It is interesting to see all of the work that goes into this park making a big conservation effort to keep the endangered animals not only alive but also to release them back into the wild. All of the animals looked well and the enclosures looked in good condition.
The safari ride was definitely worth it to see lots more of the animals, without it you won't see loads especially this time of year. If you go on the safari I would say there is more on the left side to see than the right so bear that in mind with where you sit. It is quite bumpy and you do slide on the seats a bit so be prepared to strap up with the seatbelt or to hold on.
If you have less able or have little ones there are a fair amount of hills but there are also regular places to stop and recover and I think some people did hire a golf buggy and there was some shuttles for the disabled so it might be worth getting a confirmation first. We did over 11,000 steps and there was a little bit we didn't see with two enclosures so be prepared to put in the leg work.
The car park is quite muddy if you don't get on the tarmac area so be prepared, some of the decking and bits can be slippery.
There are picnic tables around if you take your own lunch. We were going to get a pizza but it was a 35-40min wait for the food as it was getting busy so we walked a bit further and went to the BBQ cafe which was about 5/10 minutes wait for a hot dog and chips. If we lived more local we would probably take a picnic but be warned if you don't, the prices are usual prices you see at places like this so it's not cheap, some places were cash or card but most I think we're card so just remember that.
We probably come just out of season for this place. We did get graced with mostly good weather.
I do feel we are quite spoilt with some of the places in Essex nearer to us so it often makes a lot of other animal sanctuaries and zoo's seem a little bit underwhelming at times.
I do feel maybe some different animals like maybe some reptiles that are on an endangered list would be good to house here to give a bit more variety a lot of the cats small and large were just too far away to get a good view of. I know that it is also good that they have a lot of space to roam but I don't think we could have seen some of the animals without going on the safari truck and even then if there are animals that you are more interested in then you don't get to chose how long you are looking at them for. I think if you stay at the park in one of the many rooms then you possibly get a golf buggy to get about in, this does give you some short cuts and seemingly access to other parts...
Read moreBest part about Port Lympne for our family. Our 2 1/2 year old loved it. There is about 20 modelled dinosaurs to see from the very small to the very large. Includes family favourites such as diplodocus, T-Rex and Triceratops. The raptors have also been updated to look how we think they now look based on new research. Takes about 20mins to walk around. The dinosaurs are not animatronic just stationary models. Very easy to get pictures with the dinosaurs, there are even hollow dinosaurs heads to climb into for a photo opportunity. You can also visit the Port Lympne reserve. But be warned it is very hilly! I would only give the Port Lympne reserve itself...
Read moreMy son loved this and it was much better than I expected it to be. We had a little act of kindness from the lady on the ticket desk which was helpful and then we had gorgeous weather and met some lovely people while going around the Wildlife Park. It was a very long walk back from the Dinosaur Forest up some steep hills so be prepared :-) If there is a negative about Port Lympne it's that some of the youngsters who work on the refreshment stands are not really customer...
