Beautiful gardens with the rhododendrons in full bloom (24th May). The house was unfortunately closed for maintenance as we completely missed the gardens at the top, but the Roman ruins were a nice addition. The paths were quite steep in some areas, so bear this in mind if you are unsteady on your feet, but there is no real time limit on staying and there are a fair few paths around the lake which would be manageable....

Very tasty home made cakes in the house too with a lovely view from the dining room across the formal gardens and the Severn Estuary. You can walk in the deer park too and there are plenty of deer to spot in amongst the trees...
