We had a mini break staying in Lydney. I asked a random guy on the high street where was good to eat? He told us to drive to the next village and try here....WoW we had a wonderful evening just me and my teenage son. What great service great food we made use of the games available & had a few rounds of cards (other games were available!) It was great to have a time without the normal distraction of mobile phones or TV it can be hard with a teenager. Thanks for have these games available!

We called in here as a group of 8 on a Saturday afternoon. They gave us a table and explained the specials. The service was excellent. We ordered a variety of food, including calamari, nachos, halloumi fries, fillet and ribeye steaks, burgers, fish and pizza. All the food was brilliant! Happy adults and children all around! I would highly recommend this place whether you are looking for food or just a drink with an excellent atmosphere. Thank you The Cross Inn!

Great to see this pub back open. The new team has done a great job restoring the pub, which is bright and inviting with plenty of space for families and groups. We visited for Sunday lunch and the quality of food was underwhelming - a cheaper topside of beef was served despite a high roast price for the area, and paired vegetables were unconventional (courgette and shredded cabbage). Starters including the pictured salt & pepper squid are much better.

My wife and I have been coming to this pub every week since we moved to the area until my wife gave birth to our first baby last year but still visited regularly. Then on Father’s Day morning we decided to pop in for breakfast around an hour before they were due to stop serving breakfast we checked the website to check before and there was nothing to suggest they wasn’t doing breakfast on arrival we were met with a blunt not serving breakfast because of Father’s Day but three tables were enjoying breakfast! This has to be the most disgusting customer service experience I’ve ever received we will never set foot in this...

The food was delicious, the people were happy and very helpful, the place was lovely, but what I didn’t like, was when I saw a young man, dropping a couple of cutleries on the floor and a lady coming after him, pick them up and gave it to him, so all together when in the drawer, like nothing happened 🤷🏻‍♀️. I went with my family, my son is 5 and I don’t want to think that his fork might have fallen on the floor before. The most important thing is that the man saw me that I saw him, but he act like nothing happened. I visited the place on my way back home from Forest of Dean. I don’t think I’ll...

We have been waiting for The Cross to fully open as we go past it fairly regularly. We had a warm, friendly Welcome from the team when we entered. They had a lovely selection of specials as well as their normal menu. Today the specials were soup, pate or battered monkfish. Mains were steak with ribs, lamb shank or beef lasagne. We shared a Monkfish starter which was just as well as there were 4 large pieces. We had the steak and ribs from the Specials and the mixed grill from the normal menu. The monkfish was lovely and moist and everything cooked...
