The Cross Inn — Restaurant in Forest of Dean

My wife and I have been coming to this pub every week since we moved to the area until my wife gave birth to our first baby last year but still visited regularly. Then on Father’s Day morning we decided to pop in for breakfast around an hour before they were due to stop serving breakfast we checked the website to check before and there was nothing to suggest they wasn’t doing breakfast on arrival we were met with a blunt not serving breakfast because of Father’s Day but three tables were enjoying breakfast! The food was delicious, the people were happy and very helpful, the place was lovely, but what I didn’t like, was when I saw a young man, dropping a couple of cutleries on the floor and a lady coming after him, pick them up and gave it to him, so all together when in the drawer, like nothing happened 🤷🏻‍♀️. I went with my family, my son is 5 and I don’t want to think that his fork might have fallen on the floor before. We have been waiting for The Cross to fully open as we go past it fairly regularly. We had a warm, friendly Welcome from the team when we entered. They had a lovely selection of specials as well as their normal menu. Today the specials were soup, pate or battered monkfish. Mains were steak with ribs, lamb shank or beef lasagne. We shared a Monkfish starter which was just as well as there were 4 large pieces. We had the steak and ribs from the Specials and the mixed grill from the normal menu.
