Review 8th July We returned to have a totally different experience to the below. The staff who were being led by James were much better, talking to customers and checking customers were happy with their food. We were certainly pleased with our food today, strongly recommend the jacket potatoes. The drinks were chilled. We cannot thank James enough for the excellent service he gave today not just to us but to other customers, he never seemed to stop. Thank you to Gideon, Joanne Dix and James for taking the time to turn things around from my previous review.
Review 17th June We have seen many changes over the years to the centre and used the cafe each visit. We were never normally disappointed until today. The cafe used to be run with staff that had some learning difficulties, this has sadly now changed. Some of the young men that work in the cafe need lessons on how to talk to customers. We ordered cheese and ham toasties which took a long time to come even though it was not busy. The ham was cold, the fruit chutney was overloaded making the toastie unpleasant, I ate the ham and cheese and left most of the bread. Cold drinks were warm, ice was supplied but as the drinks were warm the ice melted quickly. There did not seem to be anyone who we could have approached to talk about our disappointment. It is such a shame as we used to...
Read moreThis is a great little place to have a coffee and look at some arts and craft pieces, sometimes with the artists there in person. For small gift and trinkets or ideas on how to bring new life into old warn items. It has gone over a few transitions in the last 10 or so years. I seem to remember the initial idea was to give aspiring artists a place to continue their work, and to sell to the public, giving people a chance to learn and ask questions. Maybe it was not the right time to be there or out of season. even if its open most of the year round if not all year. But it has a lot of areas that were closed or empty. This seems to impact the throughput of people coming into the gates. It would be a shame to lose this place as the general Idea is lovely and has had quite a few tourists on and off. This is an asset for bringing people into Lydney and surrounding areas. Please come and have a look round, and give this place a little visit and breath some life into the place and encourage aspiring artists that may be in...
Read moreWhat a wonderful Valentines at Taurus ❤️ We were made to feel very special the moment we entered. A photograph of us together started the evening against a romantic setting, a freshly presented rose and a beautifully decorated table made the start of the evening very memorable. Then came the food and an excellent choice of red wine. I have to say the food was exceptional! Three courses that showed the skills of an excellent chef behind the scenes, especially as Taurus cater normally for cafe food. A definite opportunity here for Taurus for more evening catering. I attach a picture of my personal pudding choice; a chocolate baileys bomb! so tasty and smooth. To finish the meal came the lovely handmade heart biscuits covered in chocolate. All these addition touches, the attention to detail across the whole event, and, the remarkable food, made this, an evening my partner & I won’t forget. Thank...
