Undulating walks, there is a concreted path on the left up to the top to accommodate walkers, wheelchairs, prams, pushchairs and toddler bikes etc. Very pleasant and tranquil walk, albeit uphill, around to the top part with a midway parking area which looks over towards the bottom carpark with some lovely shrubs etc. in between. The best bit of parking however is mainly reserved for the Council Office workers in the week but offers a lovely view of the trees and shrubs around the park and down to the lake. There are benches at various stages where people can sit and relax or enjoy their own picnic. However, if not a picnic, there is a little cafe, down by the lake, serving a variety of food and drink, some outside tables for you to eat and enjoy the sunshine! The lovely old hall at the top is used for a few council offices with a much more modern building on the right housing the main Gedling Borough Council Offices. Council tax bills etc can be paid there and any complaints or queries re problems around Gedling Borough are dealt with in person. There are some parking spaces outside. Just a little way down from there is the children's play area with varied equipment and a soft bark underfoot! Dog and litter bins provided in strategic places all around the grounds. All in all a very pleasant, relaxing and peaceful park!...
Read moreWe love this park—there's a brilliant play area with comfortable and accessible roundabouts, swings, seesaws, and outdoor games / puzzles as well as plenty of room to kick a football or play hide-and-seek on the grounds around the lake and manor house. There's a sweet little cafe that sells some hot and cold food, drinks and cuppas, snacks, baked goods, and even soft serve ice cream (but bring cash as they don't take cards!) There are several different types of birds that live round or visit the lake, with a board to help identify them—it's lovely to walk around spotting chicks or feeding them (appropriate seed / chopped fresh fruit and veg—NOT bread).
The parking is pay and display, free for the first two hours on weekdays and free all day on the weekend—it's also just round the corner from Sainsbury's, McDonald's, Aldi, Lidl, and the high street, so it's easy to grab bits for a picnic or incorporate the park as part of a shopping trip. There are also regular events held here throughout the year—it's a great space for the community and...
Read moreWent on two hungover walks here this weekend and this place really revived my friends and I.
Wandered around up to the well decorated skate park at the top of the hill and the down to the duck feeding area at the bottom.
We enjoyed some beers on a bench for a few hours and our dog Pippa had an awesome time languidly walking around and sniffing other dogs.
I got a slush puppy for the little store that seemed to last for ever and my mate becca bought a bag of bird seed which we proceed to feed to the ducks. This resulted in us being swarmed by at least 30 pigeons and eventually I had two standing on my hand eating seed out of it.
We proceeded to feed the birds and walk around a really nice looking pond at the bottom, which had ducks, geese and mallards in.
We also went to go check out the aviary but it was shut at this time.
All in all a very nice park with friendly people in so...
