Lovely park and great for families, however my 3 star rating stands as there have been some very unfortunate incidents that occur with the large slide- The main attraction of the park. There have been some pretty serious safety concerns about this slide, with many incidents resulting in trips to the hospital. Broken bones from children falling from the inside of the apparatus, and a recent incident of a potential broken neck from where a poor boy had slipped upon his way towards the top, falling down the flight of ladders and hitting his head upon the wooden floor. This incident could have very well ended terribly, but fortunately the little lad has miraculously walked away with minor cuts and bruises. Do not be fooled however, for incidents like these can and will eventually result in live changing injuries like this boys could have. Investigations into the safety of this slide must happen, and changes must be made to make it safer for everybody. If you are planning on taking your families to Alver, please bare in mind that young children should probably stay clear of this slide for their own sake. These incidents all happened when an adult was present in the slide with their kid so regardless whether you go with your child or not, these accidents can happen...
Read moreIf you're after a fantastic spot to stretch your legs (and maybe your dog's too!), you really can't go wrong with Alver Valley Country Park. Honestly, it's a bit of a hidden gem around here. There are loads and loads of trails winding all over the place, so you can have a proper wander and explore different routes each time you go. It's brilliant for dog walkers – plenty of space for them to have a good run around. They've also got a really nice area set up for kids, which is always a bonus if you've got little ones in tow. And get this, it's super handy because it's right near a garden centre, so you could easily combine a nice walk with a bit of plant shopping! The only slightly funny thing – and maybe something to bear in mind – is that there aren't any public toilets for humans in the park itself. So, just a little heads-up on that front! But honestly, that's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. For a lovely outdoor space with great walking and a nice vibe, Alver Valley Country Park is definitely worth...
Read moreFirst dog walk here last weekend and really enjoyed it. Lots of different terrain to explore with our dog, including the river near the bridge. Massive play area for kids and cheap parking available. There is also a marsh area with a bird hide to watch all the different species of birds nesting there etc. Some dog walkers are not considerate at all, leaving mess and litter behind them which does spoil things a bit. Also some dogs should be kept on the lead as not all are well trained, I've heard of a number of incidences where dogs have been attacked by other dogs with irresponsible owners. We met three dogs that were running a mock in the river, the owners had little control, with one of them seeming to start being aggressive towards other dogs for no reason. I will definitely go here again but will be mindful of the idiots that also go here. There are also lovely people that go here for walks, I met and said hello to a large...
