Has to be one of those must see places to visit. Beautiful area all round with plenty other bays to explore. Went there to camp for a couple of nights. Was fishing nearby so was a really handy camp site. Camp site was great with good amenities. It was only a short walk to the beach. Nearby Lochinver is pricey for stocking up supplies but it is what it is. Good few places to eat out there if you can't be bothered using the camping stove. The camp site does chippies some nights during summer season too plus it has a small shop so no great need to go to the expensive Spar shop at Lochinver if you already have supplies. The entire area nearby is a stunning place to visit and explore, I recommend going there at any time of year just for the scenery alone. Lots of hill walking water sports fishing cycling and sightseeing potential. I plan to return. Photos are a pano of the mighty Quinag and a lovely wee brown trout caught on fly from one of the many lochs of Assynt..he...
Read moreSpectacular. Challenge is the drive to get there as it’s just a single track road with multiple passing places. For a novice like me it was a proper challenge. Weather was fantastic and sunny and this place has been on my list for quite some time after seeing multiple videos on social media
Parking was limited that day due to some work being carried out.
It’s definitely the best beach I’ve been to. Blue, green, light blue colored water coming into the bay were the highlights.
Very little crowd and the calmness of the water hitting the shores were highlights of this beach. Wish I could just sit there and watch the water and just not have a care in the world
Would recommend finding a place in the nearby cities and giving this beach good enough time to explore and enjoy. We unfortunately weren’t there for a long time because we had our hotel...
Read moreAchmelvich lies just three miles north west of Lochinver. However, they are three long miles when you take into account the "sporting" nature of the single track road that takes you there, and especially the last mile and a half of it leading down from the B869 coast road.
If our opening paragraph has deterred you from visiting Achmelvich, good: that's exactly what we want it to do. That way next time we visit we stand even more chance of having this little corner of paradise to ourselves. Seriously, this is a wonderful place, and you shouldn't let the idea of some unusually challenging single track roads put you off making the short trip...
