I booked the luxury Glamping pod Conival for my husband as a surprise on our North Coast 500 road trip. |The pod itself is lovely -very warm and cosy and the copper bath is a special treat. And it was nice to get out of our camper van for the night and enjoy the space in the pod. |However, for £299 for a one night stay I have to agree with other reviews that it is overpriced. I expected some nice big fluffy towels and toiletries to go with the copper bath and bathroom. |But the biggest disappointment is the complete lack of privacy. The pod is one of several packed very closely together on the smallest site I have ever seen. It is right by the entrance next to the tiny car park and opposite the only outdoor space which is communal. The only privacy is if you shut your curtains, as every other pod user has to walk right past your door to get to your car. Communal spaces are fine but this one is practically on your pod’s doorstep and there isn’t even space for your own tiny patio set! |We walked down to the Shore campsite -with a little chippy and shop and lovely picnic bench deck overlooking the gorgeous little beach. |Far better value for money to have stayed there. Didn’t want to feel disappointed but the special treat wasn’t...
Read morePut it this way it felt like I was in a garden centre and had just found the shed showroom. It has 5 pods cluttered together with no privacy at all. Once in the pod we had to shut the light out from every window as either you could see right through to the bed of the opposite pod or if someone used the roads telephone box they could see you using the toilet. So as you needed to black out every window you end up with no day light at all. Which defeats the feeling of the outdoors. The bbq area was a square at the front as you entered for all 5 pods to use. How on earth would this work with 5 families cooking all together on one bbq. Felt even more sorry for the pod that faced this area. The photos on booking.com have a lovely cooper bath but this is the boujee clamping pod only. The wifi just doesn’t work. Not even any milk for a coffee. The fish and chip shop is run by the campsite next door and is good but has nothing to do with these pods. The Beach is lovely though but on the NC500 they are all lovely. To sum it up|these pods are far from luxury and totally overpriced at £251 (weekday)for a one night stay. However, this is a great money making scheme for the founders....
Read moreBeware their clever photos. Not as advertised - boujee pod ( the one with the lovely bath etc) isn’t even on the photos advertising the site (see my pics). It’s been added and did not give the relaxing experience I expected when booking. ||The pod is right next to the entrance, so everyone coming on / off site goes right past your window and the gate clicks continually - you also hear all the coming and going’s from the cars. Sadly for us people were coming and going a lot. ||And look at the outlook. The advertised pics and blurb gave the impression of peace and overlooking the bay in some way. Whilst they aren’t responsible for building works that have sprung up, they are responsible for notifying their guests and / or updating their listing. My outlook wasn’t nice in any direction. ||On our stay the tech didn’t work and there was a dirty grill. All of this is rectifiable and I’m sure they’ll remedy it - they offered us a discount for this but have not responded to contact about being mislead by the description. ||Such a disappointing experience in sharp contrast to what we anticipated. We paid far too much for what we got even with...
