Was looking forward to this beach more than any other on a recent NC500 trip. The single track drive didn't phase me as driven on plenty for the duration of the trip. The approach to find parking was confusing and seemed makeshift with what looked to be homemade signage and bits of rope. Lots of do not enter unprofessional signs. Greeted by a bloke who I'm not entirely sure is legit asking for £5 to park on a bit of grass verge. We were passing through to take photos and visit briefly. All other sites and beaches along the route are well maintained and clear with lookout points. I doubt this set up is run by the Scottish Highlands Council. Someone is making money out of a public beach and I don't think it's going into a beach conservation fund. The set up is shabby and doesn't look official. Shame because it was on my tick box of must see places along the route. Can't comment on the actual beach which I'm sure is beautiful because I didn't get to see it because of the odd off-putting set up. Maybe I didn't go to the official park up but the makeshift signage seemed to indicate you couldn't drive further. Despite this disappointment still managed to see many beautiful beaches. The Scottish Highlands are...

this is the best beach I have visited in Scotland I traveled 5 hours to get there and it is worth every second the beach looks exactly like one you'd find in spain, the sand is white and soft like flour, the water is see through and so blue but the temperature is freezing, I still went for a swim along with a lot of people at the beach, there is a small shop selling ice cream some bread, drinks and some snacks, and a camp sight with caravans beside the beach, I will return the second I get the chance, you are able to have a BBQ but you have to clean up...

Achmelvich beach and neighbouring Vesteys beach is stunning and a great example of what Scotland has to offer. It really is comparable to the best places you would find in more tropical locations with the wildlife to match. But why oh why have the council permitted motor boats and jet skis in this environmentally sensitive area which dominate the bay?! It is an appalling action and I’m shocked that any tourist would come to this part of the world to be towed on a banana boat. The area is also being developed into a larger caravan site too which seems...

Things to do on the NC500 Part 1 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🏖️ Clashnessie Beach - a white sand beach met with crystal clear blue water. This small bay is sheltered by surrounding sand dunes and a great place to look out for marine life ⛰️ Stac Pollaidh - one of the best difficulty to view ratio hikes we have done. The views on a clear day are breathtaking 🏊🏼‍♀️ Achmelvich Beach - another stunning beach on the west coast of Scotland and the perfect place to go for a dip as the water is slightly warmer here due to .. (it’s still freezing though) 🏄🏼‍♀️ Surf with @northcoastwatersports - one of the best activities you can do on the north coast. If you don’t fancy surfing, check out what other activities they have on offer. Our brand new North Coast of Scotland map is now available for pre-order and pairs perfectly with our Destination NC500 book to help you plan your road trip 🚐🗺️ #nc500route #nc500adventure #scotlandroadtrip #northcoast500 #travelscotland

Well worth a visit. You have to drive a few miles on single track roads and this is a popular destination. The car park is quite big and it cost £2 for the first hour and £1 thereafter. We took our dog and he was off leash the whole time but he is a collie and extremely well behaved. The water is crystal clear and shallow and it’s a stunning beach. The only negative for us on our visit in mid May were the bugs. Lots of beetles that fly at you and latch on to bite. Did make us want to leave the beach earlier than we had wanted on a hot May Day
