Good for going to feed the ducks and swans, often a few climbers climbing the old quarry walls, shame that the litter around and rubbish left by campers and junk in the water is not removed, could be a lot nicer * UPDATE* one year on and what a transformation this park has had, it has a Roman fort themed play park to tie in with promoting the nearby antonine wall, bar hill Roman fort and other Roman forts and points of interest, the water is a lot clearer now and there are more bins in the park now, currently a pair of mute swans with 6 young cygnets residing in the water along with mallard...
Read moreAuchinstarry Quarry is an amazing climbing venue with something for all levels of experience. There is no walk in as the walls start from the car park which is great for groups. There are plenty of anchor points throughout the venue and lots of opportunities for gear placement on climbs. There is also the opportunity for those with access to do a canoe climb combo. Plenty of facilities nearby, burger van in the car park right next to a village and a petrol station as well. And only a 15min drive from glasgow...
Read moreNice play area for 12year olds and under. Quite muddy when it’s been raining but it’s all new and shiny at the moment and all the new play-area equipment is great for the wee ones. It is built on a few levels and the whole family can walk up. It may be difficult for wheelchair access and sadly it didn’t appear to have any wheelchair accessible play-area equipment or attractions.
If it’s been raining - and remember it is located Scotland - then get the kids to wear...
