We had read the reviews before we visited, so we did not know what to expect. But we were very pleasantly surprised and delighted by what we found. If you consider this an old military site and the craftspeople have taken over the individual buildings, you won't be disappointed. It's quirky, and the buildings are spread out over a large area in no particular order, but we found all we wanted to visit with little problem. We visited Madness Ceramics, Balnakeil Glass, and Cast Off Crafts. Each was fascinating, with some lovely individually produced products on sale. It was nice speaking to the proprietors about how they make the items. We found everyone very welcoming and non-pushy. They just let you view the products without pressure to buy; each had a cool vibe. Before leaving, we visited Cocoa Mountain for drinks and to taste some of their gorgeous handmade chocolates. They also had a range of gorgeous-looking pastries, which...

If you are in the area, this an interesting crafters village to come across. After a leisurely browse around the various independent shops, my family and I popped into Phil's Salon and "art gallery". The encounter took a Hard Right turn with the proprietor's disturbing pro-donald t**, anti Canadian, anti-immigrant statements. I won't describe the ugly talking points and false narratives he directed at my wife. What I am surprised by is that a group of local artisans and craftpersons would tolerate such a mouth foaming, insulting, ignorant blowhard abusing tourists that visit the enclave. If this type of behavior towards customers is tolerated amongst the other shop owners, maybe it's best to stay...

So we have stayed in Phils Lodge through Airbnb just wow phil beautiful we could stay here a week the views and the area is amazing, we need coffee though 🤣 maybe some satchels for the people that forget to bring milk not a issue. Sauna amazing House amazing Facilities amazing Experience amazing

Tips from a builder to another Buy a composite door won't swell in summer or winter. The heating for us was ok but could be a tad better a mean its minus 2 so you kinda expect it to be cold somewhat but maybe a fake fire place would be nice one with mood lighting as its beautiful but lighting at would make it another experience. Pull out shelter over the table area like you would have on...

In an old military camp the buildings have been utilised by crafters and artists and you can wander about popping in to varios studios to see a myriad of artisitc styles , some of the artists can be seen at work and all works can be bought. A few of the buildings have remained closed since covid so its not full but its well worth a small detour off the NC500

It's a collection of what look like old industrial buildings now used to house artists and crafts people. A few nice things to see and buy. Didn't try the cafe. A few were closed on the Sunday we went, including cocoa mountain which was disappointing as that was what I really wanted to go to.

I took a night at Holiday house with sauna at this village .But a little confused to find the place .Anyway the host is fine . To stay here, bring your own foods and use the facilitated kitchen to cook or warm them. The restaurant may be more than 10 km away.
