Very disappointed at the response of staff hence the low rating. After raving about this cafe on a visit to the Highlands my daughter thought it would be lovely 1st xmas present from my new grandchild to buy me the hot chocolate I had rated so highly. She found that the hot chocolate was not ready to order so ordered a gift voucher after a few weeks she realised the voucher hadn't arrived so got in touch and ordered another one which when it did arrive didn't have enough stamps on it although my daughter had paid full postage.... No apologies or reimbursement after informing company so two lots of postage no hot chocolate but at least a gift voucher. The voucher was gratefully received at Xmas and I excitedly awaited the parcel which didn't arrive and as life overtakes events I forgot about it.... On contracting the company I was curtly told in an email it would have been nice to know your parcel although despatched hadn't arrived months ago. That comment did not help the situation why wouldn't I tell you I'm the loser here we've paid for something we haven't received. No apologies again. I know the customer is always right attitude has long disappeared but some staff training is needed here on customer staff relations.... As I've noted on a couple of reviews I've read on your site.... Without your customers you haven't got a business.I'm not keen on your responses to other reviews either.... No doubt I will get a flippant response... You should cherish All...

While staying in Durness we heard about this place from a number of locals and tourists and thought we should check it out as everyone said it was the best hot chocolate ever. Well since we all love chocolate in this family we went on our hunt for the best hot chocolate, our taste buds were awaiting form the experience and we were practically drooling by the time we got there. Walking in the aroma that found us was telling us the hype was correct. We waited in the queue, (it was busy) we got served. Thought the prices were a bit high but, if the experience was as good as we were told then it would be a small price to pay. We sat at the table and awaited the arrival of the best hot chocolate ever, and we waited, we waited some more. Eventually it arrived, the server saying they were sorry for the wait but did not know where we were sitting. We were sitting a the table in front of the counter we hadn't moved since we sat down. The smell arising from the big mugs soon took our minds off the excuses from the server. We picked up the mugs and slowly raised them to our mouths, savouring the aroma. Finally the best hot chocolate passed our lips and poured over our taste buds. We placed the mugs back on the table.

We looked at each other and both said at the same time.

Is that it? Had better from Cadbury's

On the plus side, the...

Yet another lovely dog-friendly gem of a place up here on the North Coast. We walked from our camp site at Sango Sands back in the village of Durness with our faithful friend 'Dave' over the headland to the West for a 7-8 mile walk via lovely secluded beaches and sand dunes. On the way back, we called into the cafe at Cocoa Mountain and were met by really friendly staff and a gorgeous selection of food and beverages. We just decided upon a couple of croissants (one cheese and ham-hot, the other being a very seasonal spooky chocolate orange and both were spot on gorgeous) being a chocolate shop I thought it ride not to try the Spooky hot chocolate and it was a good call, it was gorgeous! Our server even asked if we would like a bowl of water for Dave, which went down a treat and was very much appreciated. 😊 Undoubtedly we will be back up here the next chance we get and undoubtedly we will return to Cocoa Mountain to taste their wares. I woke heartedly recommend a visit to anyone. Great place with friendly staff, what's not...

5 of us came here the other day with great expectations for 'the best hot chocolate in Scotland' and unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. For something that has been so hyped up it was a big let down. The best part of the drink was the drizzle of melted chocolate on the top but we were under the impression the whole drink would be melted chocolate but we were met with bland sweet water. We mostly chose the hot chocolate chaser option with 4 chocolates but they were subpar. To their credit the croissants and banana muffin were very good which bring this up from what would have been a 2☆ review. In addition the staff all seemed to be in quite bad moods which brought the mood down even further on what was already a poor experience

So we were looking forward to ‘the best hot chocolate’ unfortunately we were disappointed. The photos from 4 years ago with the chocolate oozing over the cup are misleading…. The hot chocolate is now served in paper cups the large being a standard regular size. The Hot Chocolate was really not the best and left a nasty taste in my mouth afterwards. Won’t be recommending this as I think the standards of 4 years ago have dropped considerably. Maybe if they’d served it in a mug it would have tasted better and been worth the cost. I thought they might of had different flavours or toppings which would have enhanced the chocolate but no, nothing like that at all.
