Brig O' Doon is one of my favorite places on earth. I didn't realize how entwined this bridge and river are in my own genealogy. My 4 and 5X great grandfathers were born on a farm next to Loch Doon where the River Doon starts. Then it wends its way through to Ayr and the sea. The gorgeous old bridge has beautiful lights at night and gorgeous views by daylight. The bridge has an old legend from the Tam O'Shanter poem and if you look at the cobblestones, you'll see where the designs change to ward off the 16th Century witches who didn't like to cross water.
