Unfortunately most beaches in the Bristol channel have a very big difference between tide out and tide in, and most of them have horrible squechy mud under the sea, when the sea goes out, you get a beach of sinking mud, and Burnham on Sea is no exception, though the town beach has a fairly dry strip of sand. It is nice when the tide is in, but the water would be muddy/brownish, and there's a lot of flies on the sand(at least when we were there) and lots of foam and seeweed floating by the edge of the water. However water gets fairly warm on a hot day and loads of people were swimming. Also it is kind of nice and old fashioned, quiet, and parking is cheap for a beach.
