Absolutely beautiful in the sunshine, and the cafe is open from 10-4 from the 1st October until next April (except for Christmas and New Years Day). A fantastic place to walk your dog, cycle or if you just wanted to walk! There's several paths, but the water front walk is the best for those with dogs and on foot. Be careful though of loose dogs if you have your own, as have encountered a few irresponsible dog owners who let their dog off and haven't trained them well! Staff are extremely friendly, and informative. Caste Semple is part of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, which has several other sites throughout Ayrshire and Inverclyde . Well worth a visit! Fondly recall a time when the pair froze solid and the staff allowed us to skate and curl. Be wary of the weather as the front path can flood easily due to its close proximity to the lake. No public showers, but there are toilets which close with the centre times and there's no boat hire. Bring your own vessel! Caravans and motor homes can stay the night, but check with the centre first as some information leaflets can mis-inform things about the centre so check with the staff...
Read moreWeather was nice that day so decided to take the dog a walk with the family. We went a good mile and there was lovely view of the lake. We then got back to parking lot (found a space no bother and it was busy that day) stop for a drink in the little cafe bit. Sadly had to stay outside since dogs weren't allowed in. The only problem is that there's a lot of dog walkers there and no nearby place to take your dog in for a drink. We were lucky that day to be able to sit outside since the weather was good but when the weather isn't the best then a place that's dog friendly would be...
Read moreArea was nice enough but the cafe staff were quite grumpy looking. I was afraid to ask for anything other than my hot drink incase I received a stark stare for the hassle. The cafe seating area was closed off so had to drink outside. Nice place but will bring my own stuff to eat and drink next time. There were no facilities except toilets and the cafe , nothing to do but feed the birds, nothing for entertainment for kids ect. It's a shame quite a nice view but nothing to do. P.S. don't take money as the cafe staff don't accept the Queens coin, only card or...
