Easily found off of the main road with large brown signs. The car park cost is £2.20 all day. No other options for cheaper payment, it's a flat rate. Also the car park is cash only !!!! A bit weird, and very old fashioned, but make sure you have the correct change. There is a path all the way around. This path is easy walking, and would be OK for buggies and bikes going SLOWLY. Dogs allowed, and allowed off lead. A few fields and meadows just off of the main path if you wish to venture off for a walk or picnic. There is a cafe available, and some toilets. If you wish to visit these turn left from the car park on the main path. Turning right you can follow the path all the way around but the cafe will be at the end of the walk. The signs for the circular walk are easy to follow around the lake. It took us around 55 minutes to walk all the way around. Small children's play area by the car park. The lake is currently very low due to the hot summer. ( Sept 2022 ). A great place to visit, and not too busy either. ( pictures taken on a Sunday...
Read moreJan '17 Like so many other country parks, this could be a lovely public space on the outskirts of town, offering a glimpse to the countryside without having to go out & look for it. But sadly, it's not. It's a very run down, depressing scrubby fringe of a wood around a rather dirty resavoir, which is a shame, because it could so easily be so much more. The car park is rather small. But at £2 it's not too bad. The public toilets are not nice & are in desperate need of refurbishment. The information centre is a great space but sadly lacks much information. The outdoor cafe is quite nice & serves a decent cuppa & jacket spud. The way marked walks around the resa are nice & well planned & it's clear some maintenance work is being carried out, but an awful lot more desperately needs to be done, quickly, to make this wasteland in to the Country Park...
Read moreGreat place for a quick stroll around a small lake that has a couple of openings down to the water, however due to the time of year it had blue green algae so we were glad access to the water was limited therefore it felt more like a woodland walk. Lots of nature to see, caterpillars, birds, dragonfly's, rats, butterfly's etc. Lovely little cafe with friendly staff is situated a short walk from the car park (with toilets) & only £2 to park all day in the car park which had a good size kids playground right beside it so the tired kids just fell into the car. Would I go again? Probably not as we live an hours drive away & there is not much to see during the walk but we enjoyed our...
