Big car park (pay to park) few disabled spaces (pay to park), Very nice clean cafe with meals such as paninis and jacket potatoes etc, hot and cold drinks and plenty of desserts to choose from, you can sit in or take out. Small visitors centre opposite with staff who can help with any queries about park events etc. Lovely walk around the lake, looking for the gruffalo in the woodland, the temple on top of the hill, the water garden, the tower and plenty of wildlife! Great to let the kids or dogs run about and also great to capture some wildlife/nature photography... So while I do think this is a great place for smaller children (6 or under), I now tend to take my daughter elsewhere (there are 2 large parks with huge slides for the older kids- and adults, with play equipment for all ages which cater for my needs now which also has cafe, walks etc just a short drive...
Read moreLovely Park with wildfowl, lake and follys. Nice little cafe plus toilets, baby change + visitors info centre. Car parking is pricey £2.OO minimum. There is a small play park for little kids + a fun Gruffalo walk. The Park backs on to the Hardwick Hall Hotel where drinks + meals can be bought by non residents. There is also a golf course + Quadbike course next to the Hotel. It is also close to Sedgefield which is a pleasant town with shops/ pubs and amenities . The main downside to the Park is that, being one of the few attractions with amenities in County Durham it is always busy + the car Park + facilities...

Beautiful lake, follies to wonder at, children's play area and a cafe next to the visitors centre. The centre has various uses and you can learn crafts there at different times of the year. There is no admission fee but you do have to pay for parking. It is suitable for wheelchairs as it is mostly flat, other areas can be avoided. As a family we have spent many hours there, plenty of space for children to safely run around. Take a picnic, there are plenty of benches...
