Absolutely beautiful park from the moment you walk in . Large grassy areas, plenty of room for playing games, walking dogs, lying enjoying the sun. There are lovely pathways winding through the park surrounded by beautiful very old trees and benches with memorial plaques that are lovely to read and learn about some of the people who've enjoyed the park. There are stunning flower beds with seats to sit and enjoy them along with a fountain obtained by the park from a large house a long time ago , I believe. But best of all are the beautiful views over the river Clyde which you can enjoy sitting on the plentiful benches arranged in front of the river. In the middle of the seating area is a war memorial to all the local men lost in the great war and works war 2. Very interesting and very moving . Wherever you go in the park the views are just breathtaking. The whole place is spotless, grass well cut , no dog mess or litter . There is also a lovely cafe with toilet facilities which is brilliant as whenever I go I like to spend a few hours in the park. They also hold pipe band championships here during the summer which are always well attended . A beautiful park, very peaceful and well...
Read moreI think the new park is fantastic and was a regular visitor with the children before the lottery funding was awarded. I haven't had a chance to try the new cafe yet. I have to admit though I was a bit disappointed with the Cafe and the fact that it wasn't open when it was advertised to be (10am). After waiting until almost 25 past 10, and making myself visible to staff I had no choice but to leave as we had other plans and had to leave the park at half past 10. There were a few people and other children waiting for it to open as well, so had a member of staff even popped their head out to explain the delay at least, we wouldn't have felt so frustrated. We all understand things happen sometimes but communication is important. My high star rating despite this is due to the rest of the park. Children can play in the park, or cycle on the path, go for walks around all the flowers etc & you always have the option to go down onto the beach. There's some handy benches facing out towards water where you can sit and there's plenty of open grass creating enough space for a picnic or games. I think the only thing I haven't mentioned is that there is also a...
Read moreThere is no car park except for 4 disabled spaces beside the pavilion in the park itself. You need to park on Clydeshore Road or Woodyard Road and they can get quite busy if the sun is out. There is a small play park but it can get really busy. There is a pavillion where you can buy food and drink. It's also where the toilets are located. There is only 2 unisex toilets and 1 parent and child/disabled toilet so there can be long queues to use them. The toilets close at 3 o'clock but I don't know if it's winter time and open later in summer. There is a few picnic tables around the park. There is a tarmac walk round the park and it takes you to the water front and there is a lot of benches so you can sit and relax and watch the water go by. You also have wonderful views of Dumbarton Castle. There is plenty of grassy areas where you can play football, tennis, or let your...
