Possibly the best food I have EVER had. The starter, perfect. It’s hard to get Halloumi spot on but this hit the spot, gold and crispy all around. Complemented perfectly with the very sweet chilli dip, I also pinched one of colleagues Tempura Prawns that were on again, probably the best Tempura Prawn I’ve ever eaten!! The portion sizes on the main were HUUGE, A whole bowl of fries that were cooked to perfection, onion rings and mushrooms were spot on too! And well… the filet steak was something I’d do the 380 mile round trip all over again for!! It was spectacular I didn’t want to finish it. The service was outstanding as well, cannot fault it (however they did forget to bring me another beer once but I can let that slide.) Atmosphere was lovely, a small part of the pub had been turnt into a dining area and was full up constantly. We were lucky to get a table, you could feel the sense of quality over quantity and it really showed in the food. Thank you very much The Glencairn and staff!!

Found this hidden gem driving back to Glasgow Airport from Isle of Skye...The best food in Scotland, been to Scotland twice, this is by far the best meal and starters i've had, fine dining tastes with a very reasonable pricetag, i wanted more but was just too full and had a plane to catch....friendly staff as usuall in Scotland, you wouldnt know this was a top tier restaurant from the outside which i really liked about it, better to call for a reservation because they get busy quickly....we lucked out at lunch time and beat the crowd and was able to be seated immediately...best ribye i've ever had, best onion rings ive had in a very long time... don't skip this place

After a hike around Dumbarton Castle, with as many steps as what felt like the Great Wall of China. We were ready for some hearty din dins. The place was rather busy and thought we would not get seated. Fortunately there was a table in the corner. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was tasty and the portions were plentiful. Very reasonable priced too.The kids steak pie was so massive we had to help out. The chicken and mushroom pie was lovely, the sauce was gorgeous. My half roasted chicken topped with bacon and gravy was just what I was after home cooked belly filling comfort food. Definitely don't drive on passed this place.

We'd booked a table after being recommended the pub ( gent at the maritime museum).. We got there a couple of minutes early, however were made to wait about 5 or so minutes. I was having second thoughts about going in.. kids were running riot, it was drizzling (surprise surprise... ). We finally were invited in and got seated. The lovely lady who served us was great with the kids and recommended Vege options. Service was super quick. Food portions were not only large, but super delicious too. We had the Vege enchiladas and baked potatoes. Kids enjoyed the meal too. We spent just under an hour at the pub.

Wonderful hearty meals. So pleased we'd continued with the reservation, Would definitely recommend a visit if you're...

I can’t say enough praise towards this place! The food was amazing. We ordered the halloumi fries and they were flaky, crispy, and tender. The sauce that came with the fries paired perfectly with the halloumi. We went a tad overboard with ordering although we love to try what restaurants have to offer. I ordered the lamb chops with potatoes and veggies along with a rosemary red wine sauce. To say this was the best meal I have had on our trip between Ireland and Scotland is exactly what it was. The lamb was tender and flavorful with a beautiful sear. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. The Scottish pies were another item we ordered it was fabulous!

We will for sure be back! Make this a stop on your next trip...
