Really not family friendly at all, and disappointed to find after a long drive that the actual library section is not open to under 16s. My very bookish teenager who very much knows her way around a library was turned away by quite rude staff and ended up in tears on the steps outside because she wasn’t allowed to sit and read in silence. Read moreFantastic place. Always has wonderful exhibitions and new things to see. The S4C exhibition is very interesting. It's great to see the Canaletto, Turners etc and information about how the library cared for paintings during the war. The Pickford exhibition was terrific. Lots of things for children to do, a warm room and good shop. It's a shame that there's never any vegan food at all in the cafe. Amongst all the sandwiches, rolls and cakes- not one thing. Read moreThe National Library of Wales archives are fantastic. I wasn't able to write this review earlier (when I was there) since the internet wasn't this elaborate. I was there during the mid-1990s. I was researching family records at the time. I was able to research original bishop records (with the appropriate care). Wow! What an experience. They have really preserved their records well (more than I can say about some Texas records only about 200 years old)....
