I had a truly positive experience at the watersports centre, thanks to the wonderful team — especially Cara, Neil Senior, and Neil Junior.
Cara was exceptionally kind and helpful. On my very first day trying kayaking, the weather turned bad shortly after I got into the water, and I had to return after just 15 minutes, even though I had paid for a full hour. Cara was so understanding and accommodating — once the weather improved, she kindly allowed me to return and complete the rest of my session. Her warm attitude and helpful nature really made my experience special.
Neil Senior was also incredibly kind and understanding. There was a small issue with my payment on one occasion, but he didn’t make a fuss at all and allowed me to use the facilities anyway, trusting that I would settle it later — which I did. His easygoing and respectful approach really stood out.
Neil Junior was equally supportive. While driving the speedboat, he took the time to demonstrate the correct posture and technique for kayaking, which was extremely helpful for a beginner like me. His guidance made a big difference in my confidence and enjoyment on the water.
Altogether, the team created a warm, welcoming environment, and I’m really grateful for the kindness and professionalism they showed. I highly recommend the watersports centre and this amazing team to anyone interested in...
Read moreThis is a large hillside loch filled with the water that melts from the ski range above as well as the rain that falls on the mountains. Because you drive uphill from Aviemore for about 7 miles to get to it you are amazed that such a large body of water is where it is. There's a sweeping crescent shaped beach that runs around a large area and when the sun shines on it you could be anywhere in the world....thats got a similar golden beach. It can be a busy place but with so much open nature around you you won't need to rub shoulders with your neighbours but I can get bet that by the end of the day you will be talking to them like long lost friends. The watersports cater for all age groups and the confidence it gives those that attend must be as impressive as the arena that surrounds you. The loch is deep and generaly cold and it must be treated with respect however common sense and a good wet suit go hand in hand. Even if you are not into sailing or canoeing or anything boaty, go and watch those that are because I garauntee you will fall in love with the area, the people and the peace. See you next year,...
Read moreThe Loch is beautiful but there were issues with staff at the watersports centre.
It was very windy and when discussing the 2 person canoe, the person at the desk stated that if it was too tiring we could simply come back after 1/2hr and get a refund from the hour price. Unfortunately, there was another assistant at the desk (girl with a nose ring) when I came back 1/2hr later. She was incredibly stroppy and started deliberately distorting my words after I explained what the previous assistant had said ...e.g. 'so, you want a refund because you're tired?'.
She eventually backed down and gave the refund, but her customer service skills were very poor. While I wouldn't not use the service again because I love Aviemore and coming to Loch Morlich (third year here in a row), I think that better communication between staff and customer service training would be in order (especially for the girl with...
