Today, myself, my fiancé and his mum and niece went up to Hillend the ski centre for a tubing session, we were up for a tubing session a few ago and it was great, but today was just dreadful, everyone was left standing waiting for a while to be allowed through the gate and were given no explanation, which meant we missed out on some of our session time, the 2 staff members did not interact with anyone, they just sat at the top chatting to each other, the runs were so dry that we were stopping fully half way down, and having to walk the rest of the way down. When this was brought to the staff members attention we were rudely ignored and one the staff members reluctantly poured a tiny bit of water on the top of the runs, which made no difference what so ever, we spent more time trying to get to the bottom of the runs than we did walking back up to the top, the runs were that dry that it actually burned when going down, myself and my fiancé went down to the reception desk and asked to speak to a manager and were were told the manager would meet us over at the tubing runs, this did not happen and we had to go back to the reception, where the manager eventually turned up, when the manager finally arrived he didn’t even speak to us directly, the receptionist had to speak to him and then tell us what he said, this is not professional whatsoever, the lady on reception though was lovely and helped us the best she could so thank you so much to her, however the manager was reluctant to help or even go over, we were told by the receptionist that we could get a refund or we could try the next session, but then were told we would get a refund after she spoke to the manager. We got our refund but our niece was left absolutely gutted about not getting to do the tubing Session, this was not a great experience at all, the manager said that he was going over to check the situation out but we felt like nothing was going to be done as he couldn’t even meet us there when he said he would. Very disappointed and gutted about this experience as we were all looking forward to it after our first experience being so brilliant, which also was on a Saturday around the same time of day so timing is not an excuse for this second experience. Hope this doesn’t happen to...
Read moreArrived well before the booked 10am time and the queues started forming from around 0930. You have to go to this tiny cabin to get your wrist band so its first come first serve basis. It was probably the busiest time ever post Christmas and school holidays so it will be quieter other days but plenty of parking available. We were first in the line and about 15 people behind us however by the time we went around the coaster the queue almost disappeared so people didnt have to wait long.
Contrary to some reviews it didnt take anytime at all to get the hang of it, I am sure some people chose the sensible option of slowing down and braking (especially with young children) but I wasnt going to be one of them, it is fast and thrilling, will highly recommend the 3 ride option as the descent is fast but short and you may want to admire the views (we didnt get any). We had proper "Scottish" weather with rain battering my face so will highly recommend warm waterproof clothing as the ticket queue doesnt have shelter either. Overall a great day out and will...
Read moreReally great Alpine coaster - uplift time isn't too long and it's a very comfortable ride on the way down, even when you're light on the brakes. We paid for 3 rides each, which I would recommend as you're just figuring things out on the first run. The queue was long though, and doesn't go down very quickly. The queue system for multiple rides has to run at the same time as single rides, so only 3 or 4 from each queue can board at any one time. Throughput is slow, and while we were waiting there was an issue with a sled that had to be removed from the track. There was no communication from the team about how long things would be held up for, nor any reassureance that we'd get going again. On the staff - there are plenty of them, but didn't seem to be any uniforms, so it was hard to tell who the team members are. I'm sure they'll figure out the queues and speed up throughput, if possible. We'll...
