Was at Newburgh today lovely beach but they have blocked off quickest route to beach which I found out on my way back barbed wire on ground put there on purpose not good for pets obviously and probably not legal if you come off beach sign (home made sign )not visable from beach side but is for people entering beach and to add insult they charge £3 min for car park plenty of places to go free of charge in Aberdeenshire if they charged a quid fair enough as they have upgraded the place but come on cost of living crisis let’s scare away the locals everyone I spoke to in car park was of the same opinion if they are thinking of tourism well if they fly to Aberdeen £5-50 for pickup and then £3quid to park to see the seals WELCOME TO ABERDEENSHIRE what a joke👎😩 let’s shoot ourselves in the foot Who makes these...
Read moreWasn’t lucky enough to see the colony of seals . Just caught a few seal heads bobbing up and down the waters. The days weather has been good with enough sun, slight wind and the neural colours of sand, sea and sky made it a pleasant day. My question though is what caused the death of penguins, about a hundred of them linings the shore. There was also a few crabs still whole and intact just washed on the shore? What ever caused their demise , I am curios. Unfortunately, there is no toilet facilities, though it is a paid car park(£3.00) and be warned , wide vehicles there is barriers to stop your entry. From the car park it is about 300 ft of gravel into sandy uneven walk.. Not wheelie friendly passage all the way to the shore line which...
Read moreThe seal beach is across the estuary from Newburgh beach and is a protected area for the seals to raise their young away from curious humans and dogs, We have been visiting here over the last 20 years and are now seeing the seals have moved away from where they were always resting to an area on the North Sea coast a few hundred metres up from the mouth of the river and thus further away from visitors. I dont know if this is a temporary move or if they will be back next year. Even without the seals not very visible there are still plenty of them in the water obseving us as we watch them , the beach itself is a glorious stretch of golden sand that goes all the way to Aberdeen 10 miles south and is a fantastic place to...
