Osmaston Park, located in Derby, has an interesting history. It was once farmland owned by the Wilmot family of Osmaston, who also owned Osmaston Hall nearby. The park is a remnant of the rural landscape that once dominated the area. In 1907, it was generously gifted to the people of Derby, coinciding with the arrival of Rolls-Royce in the city.
Here are some key features of Osmaston Park:
Woodland Areas: The park boasts three distinct woodland areas: Ash Wood, Oak Wood, and Elm Wood (located across the road at the rear of Moorways Sports Complex). These wooded spaces provide a habitat for various wildlife, including song thrushes and house sparrows.
Playground: Families can enjoy the adventure playground within the park.
Community Centre: Osmaston Park hosts a community center, providing a space for local events and activities.
BMX Track: Adjacent to the new Moorways Sports Village (scheduled for completion in 2022), the park features a BMX track, offering exciting opportunities for cycling enthusiasts

It just adds to the beauty of Osmaston Park. The bike club that runs out of Osmaston Park is fantastic, it's so nice to see the children getting instruction and showing some awesome tricks. The sports facilities and play areas are well kept yet there are enough wildlife areas full of natural beauty. It's a slice of heaven in a...
