An utter gem of a location that was well worth our visit – frankly I found this place more engaging and delightful than Whitby Abby (sorry!). Plus - it doesn't cost a penny to visit (though a donation is encouraged!) The guide on duty couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful too, giving us some tips at the start along with some fascinating insights into the land ownership (and adjoining wildflower nursery too). A visit here might not take much more than an hour, but strolling around the grounds provides a real sense of lived local history. Kudos to the owners who made it available for free, and to English Heritage for curating the location too. a definite MUST SEE if you’re in the area.

Such a lovely little gem of a place! It’s so cute her, the remains of the priory are truly lovely, there a sweet little walk around the grounds where you can see old stones from the priory. There a lovely clearing surrounded by trees which is perfect if you need a little peace and quiet. We only popped in for a quick visit but was lovely to see there was a picnic area in the woods, I wish more places had stuff like that. Over all just a really nice little place to pop into.

How on earth do you rate an ancient piece of history 100's of years old? The Priory ruins are beautiful, but the crowning feature has to be the remaining far wall, dominating most of the site. Some of the features of this structure are amazing, beautifully worn away but still standing strong. It's a beautiful open space rich in history and anyone is welcome, as are donations for the upkeep of the grounds.

This was our first visit to guisborough priory Firstly the directions given by Google maps is accurate however parking can be an issue There is parking nearby though so don't be put of by that. We wen on Sunday so parking was free which was a bonus. And took less than 10 minutes on foot to get to the priory. Entry to the priory ground is free but I would recommend giving a donation to help with the upkeep of the grounds (anything is better than nothing) the actual size of this is amazing and left me in awe 😀 you can take in some real history here and also get some amazing photos 📸 all whilst taking a leisurely walk and getting fresh air at the same time . We went with our 3 children ages 9 ,6 ,5 who were shocked at the sheer size of the remains. We will definitely go again in the summer and take it all in again in a...

Guisborough Priory is a superb place to visit, either in the autumn to winter or in the spring to summer, the priory itself, is of great historic significance, aspecially as Guisborough being the ancient capital of cleveland, which holds nature events walks music festivals.

Beneath the Priory is an ancient tunnel that goes and exits at skelton.

A micro pub and resturant nearby houses a tunnel enterence which has been covered by a purspect window for visitors to see and inspect.

In Guisborough you can allso find ancient ruins, a museum, Sunnyfield house, Gallyhill, an historic place where they use to hang people, a great book shop, chemists, Morrisons, Boots, Boyes, parking space and many shops my favourite hair salon and barbers shop is Osbournes which is next to the museum and...
