This place looks lovely but at a closer look it's quite badly run down and dirty. Staff were friendly enough but very lax, sat with patrons discussing stuff you'd not expect to hear about in that setting. The food was extremely overpriced for frozen microwaved junk which did not match the menus descriptions. The sauce and cutlery pot was filthy with residue off the other sauce and I dont know what else, it went all over my hand as i picked up a sauce bottle. I was sick a few hours after leaving. Do not recommend. Edit: I do have a brain cell and am aware of where I am, one of my pictures literally has the pubs name on there so there is no chance I have responded to the wrong establishment. What disgusting 'customer care' My review is not vindictive, it is honest based on my (very bad) experience.

Mikey the landlord has been here for over 11 years... Great bloke... Takes a real pride in his pub... This place is a little bit special...The Photos say a 1000 words so I'll keep this brief. It really is a stunning building with multiple letting rooms.. Linda was busy cleaning the pub today, she was very friendly and doing a wonderful job. Large outside covered seating and it has 2 large parrots The Fox has beautiful decor, plush seating and friendly staff and the food coming from the kitchen looked pukka !! Another great pub that's a credit to the landlord and staff. 😎

Looked like a really interesting pub from the outside and advertised cask and craft ales on the boards and signage outside. Sat outside and it was a great outdoor space with covering from the weather and elements. Didn't see anything I would describe as cask or craft ale at the bar, possibly my mistake but settled for a neck oil. Friendly girl behind the bar. An ok venue for a quick drink but wasn't quite what I was looking for or envisaging today. Has a hotel too and serves food but can't comment on those as we only stopped by for a pint.

I wouldn't usually leave a review on anything but I feel like I need to with this one I woke up covered in spots and had the worst nights sleep I've had in a while definitely not worth £50 for one night!!! To start, the room had no air-conditioning and the window couldn't open not even a fan to cool the already boiling hot small room with a shower and 2 people inside, the 2 women behind the counter were snotty and useless to say the least, I shown them the room available online that I wanted to book then proceeded to show me a totally different room so I had to book the room to finally see where I was going to be sleeping, then later on I asked for a fork and they said they stopped serving but I noticed they had a tray of forks available so I helped myself to one and she warned me I wasnt allowed to take the fork untill I asked nicely and promised to bring it back down when I was done with it witch I found quite uncomforting and unnecessary as she knew I was only upstairs. The room was barely acceptable for the night and even the woman said it was really warm and done nothing to help and kept me with a broken window that wouldn't open and slightly wedged open with a wooden log, I was really looking forward to this stay as it would be my first night away with my wife, I was already half asleep and ready to go to bed but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't settle for the heat at times I felt like I couldn't breathe and spent most of the night in and out the bedroom trying to catch a breath as the room lacked oxygen it's already clammy and the shower made everything worse as it's in the same room at the foot of your bed rather than being separate, and not a single bit of ventilation, it was a absolute nightmare and definitely not worth £50 a night. In the morning after finally settling myself I got up and got ready to go to the shop for some biscuits for my morning cuppa before I have to check out, this was at around 9 o'clock and I didn't have to check out till half 10 but when I left my door to go to the shop it looked like the cleaner was already waiting for us and said are youse finally ready to go now, I didnt want to seem cheeky or anything so I just said yeah I'm going now feeling rushed and pushed out the door I already had my bags packed so I told my girlfriend the cleaner is waiting we grabbed our things and left without having a cup of tea or even being fully ready to leave the door, it's a shame it's under such poor management as this establishment definitely holds potential, lovely building in a lovely part of guisbrough, apart from the negatives I've listed and I'm sure there's a few more If I was to be picky like the floor boards feeling like they will collapse if you stepped on the wrong one, but apart from that I enjoyed myself and would have been ideal for a...

First issue I had was parking. There is parking spaces at side of building which could be allowed for customers to use. But instead 2 caravan and staff took up the spaces. I had to park 20 minutes walk away from hotel. Stopped at room oak seedling. Definitely not a family sized room. First family room I've ever stopped at without a fridge so could not keep my medication at correct temperature. No lamps in the room to keep a dim light on. Partner struggles with dark so had to keep curtains open to let street lamp keep us lit but lost privacy. Ceiling light too bright to keep on through the night. A small wall mirror balancing on the floor against the wall. They couldn't even hang it up. Water marks all over the walls. Not even hung up. Whoever designed the bathroom needs education on designing! Toilet roll holder behind the toilet. I struggled to turn around and get the paper after doing business. A larger person would struggle. Luckily a glass shelf next to the toilet so put roll on there for easy access. Towel rail next to toilet. Would make sense to put on empty wall by the bathtub. Mould on the ceiling. Dip/hole in the bathroom floor covered with lino so hurt myself when I stepped on it and lost my balance and fell. Taps are not dual so I struggled mixing hot and cold water. The hot water taps on sink and bath tub both swing when you're trying to turn them on. So had to hold with one hand and twist with the other. 1 teaspoon to serve a family. Bathroom mirror light not working. Bathroom light on wall instead of on ceiling so light blinding you. Plug socket only on one side of bed. It's not designed to be a family room. Wanted to ring them but no phone in bedroom to dial reception. No fire regulation information in bedroom. Went downstairs to ask for another room. Unfortunately no other rooms available. Only positive thing I can say is they gave us enough towels and pillows were comfy! Spent £230 for this 2 night awful experience.

Tried their food. Chicken wings side portion - literally got 2 wings and were rock hard. Steak wasn't greatest either. Asked for extra chips. Didn't feel like there were any extra. Too pricey for what we got.

Hope they see this feedback and improve on it. Wasn't a great experience personally for me and won't be stopping...

Stay was for 2 nights in a double room in September and purchased with a Buy-a-Gift voucher for £130.|No parking available but there is a public (pay and display) car park 150 metres away|When we shown to our room we were told that there wasn't a toilet in the room but there was a shared one at the end of the corridor. We had not previously been informed of this.| There was no food available for an evening meal despite it being only 5pm.|No breakfast was available on either of the two mornings.|No information was provided in the room regarding wi-fi or indeed anything else. |There were no bedside lights and no wardrobe - just two hangers on a clothes rack.|The water in the shower was dangerously hot because the taps were so difficult to turn and control.|There were soap dribbles down the outer wall of the shower and the wall toothbrush holder was stained with old toothpaste and covered in dust.|The old wooden sash window was wedged open with a wooden block, not sure why, because it was totally stuck anyway - it couldn't be moved either up or down. The totally frosted window obscured our fine view of the fire escape and back yard.|Admittedly the days had been warm, but the room was unbearably hot at night because no air could get in.|There was a huge cellar cooler outside the window which emitted a noise that sounded like a giant hairdryer that never turned off. Had we been cool enough to get to sleep, this noise would have kept us awake anyway.|The upholstered chair in the room was a very worn and dirty affair that that had definitely seen better decades. We didn't sit on it to test its comfort. |The room wasn't serviced before the second , (and thankfully last), evening and we had to go in search of a member of staff to give us a tea bag.|On the positive side, the linen was clean and the bed comfortable.....||Don't think we'll be coming...
