Dollar Cove is a great beach to visit and while away a couple of hours with the family. We tend to go with relatives who have a canine and seeing as they're (dogs) not allowed on the sister beach of Gunwalloe, we go to Dollar - although we actually prefer Dollar to Gunwalloe.
Firstly, Dollar has more interesting topography with rocks to climb and go investigating in - they also create warm little playing pools for the youngsters. Secondly, the sand is better and less grainy. Thirdly, it's not as busy.
The only caveat with Dollar (apart from the dogs if you're not a fan) is that the beach, while sizeable at low tide, can disappear within two-three hours and the remaining beach is more pebbles and boulders than sand - so...

Doable ... But I wouldn't recommend it ... At low tide it is great but even with the tide in it is still a lovely rugged and beautiful part of Cornwall. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone, but especially to those with dogs,
P S , on our most recent visit there were an abundance of jellyfish on the shoreline so just be careful with yourself and your hounds...

Three people were just leaving as I arrived, Wow ! I now have this all to myself. As I scanned what was before me, crashing waves along a rocky shoreline.... I noticed many white objects amongst the smooth pebbles. "Cuttlefish Bone I presume ?" Oh yes ! You see I have at my home, various foreign Finches. They love to gnaw on calcium rich Cuttlefish Bone. At today's prices, I reckon I collected Β£50 worth...
