What a dream of a place, access via Halzephron road, great views all along, fantastic by bike and easy to access Helston area. The beach is second to none. With 'Dollar' Cove being the pebbled and bouldered side, great for stone balancing and rock hopping, whilst 'Church' is just next door, past the church made now so infamous in the dreamy Poldark scenes. Personally its gorgeous when quiet, early morning and late into the night, for star gazing and bbq's. (Please take your litter with you ). This is unspoilt and great sandy stretches flanked by slabs and stacks to climb. There's even a cave to go on that all time favourite 'bear hunt'. If you have kids of a certain age, you know what I mean!
The water and the topography of the beach give the swimming here a great feel. In place it shelves, so watch out for 'dumping' waves, especialky with little ones. It has a powerful undercurrent in places, where I had to reign in someones 7 year old as she got swept out of her depth on an inflatable ( not recommended) by this powerful pull.
Apart from those cautionary notes, fantastic swimming and surfing beach. An ampitheatre type layout with great spots to enjoy anywhere you sit. Though if its blazing hot, bring shelter or nab the caved area at far end! Lifeguards here are great and the ladies in the cafe, top-notch! I'd like to see more plastic-free and fresh options there, but thats a personal aim, not yet widespread. A visit to The Halzephron pub is highly recommended, they serve good ale and the views are simply stunning. Love this place dearly, it will forever hold a special place in my heart as one of the worlds best destination! A great place to...
Read moreA really nice small cove that has a mix of sand and shingle beach with high rocks/cliffs either side. The beach does attract a fair amount of seaweed (that also has plastic and other rubbish mixed in) that's been washed up. You'll also have varying amounts of seaweed in the sea.
There's a National Trust car park with a walk down a gravel and sandy path to the beach. On the way down is a small NT coffee shop selling great coffees, teas, cold drinks and ice creams.
Continue past the beautiful little church, down the sandy path to the beach.
Usually the beach is manned by lifeguards, but due to Covid is currently unmanned.
As the sea goes out, you can explore some of the rock features such as, small coves, caves and rock pools. Amazing views out to sea as you stand on the rocky outcrops.
A nice little beach that doesn't...
Read moreGunwalloe Church Cove Beach is an absolute treasure! Nestled against a dramatic coastline with stunning views, this small, quiet beach offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The picturesque 15th-century St Winwaloe Church adds a unique charm, and the beach is beautifully unspoiled, making it ideal for a peaceful stroll or a relaxing day by the sea.
The water is clear, and while it’s a bit rocky, it adds to the natural, untouched feel of the place. It’s great for a swim if you're confident in the waves, or just to relax with the sound of the sea in the background. The nearby car park is convenient, and there are lovely coastal walks to explore.
A perfect spot for anyone looking to unwind, take in some incredible scenery, and enjoy a bit of history with their beach day. Definitely...
