Came here today for the Space Trail, in general it was a fine trip (apart from there not being a sign when we came to a crossroads and we didn’t know whether to turn left towards the lake or straight up and we decided on the wrong one so the children kind of lost their interest at this point) we decided to retrace our steps to ask at the visitor centre for directions and then to the cafe for rest/lunch before carrying on. I told the 3 children in my care to sit at a table whilst I ordered a drink and some food for us, I got told by a member of staff that I shouldn’t have done that as they have an order and then be seated system, I explained that I felt that it would be better if the 3 children were seated rather than getting in the way in the ordering area and as there was only one other lady there getting a takeaway coffee/snack I really didn’t see the issue. I could understand if it was the height of summer and there was a queue of families in front of me but that really wasn’t the case - a complete jobs worth - so I decided we wouldn’t be eating there after all. Such a disappointing experience which...

This was a nice location for a pretty walk around with family. We did The Snowman and the Snowdog trail (a paid extra). They provided a small cuddly and a trail booklet, as well as a voucher in the booklet for a free babycinno from their cafe.

The walk did a loop of most of the grounds. It was a bit tricky to pass some sections due to the wet and mud, but it was all solid ground. The whole walk was lovely with a variety of scenery (and the trail was good too).

It was clear that in summer there would be plenty of activities for children (park, small climbing wall, nice grassy areas).

It was also a decent length walk to keep a 3 and 6 year old going.

We stopped in the cafe at the end. Our only gripe with our morning was the speed of service in the cafe. There was a short queue (maybe 4 or 5 groups in front of us), and it must have taken at least 20 minutes to serve us. Given that they had 4 members of staff running the cafe this seemed unreasonably slow. The drinks themselves were nice.

We would happily return, but not sure if we'd use...

Very expensive parking at Β£4.50 for upto 2 hours of parking, there is no free parking on any access roads, if you can it's free to walk in. Modern just completed parking area with converted horse stables as a cafe with indoor seating and outdoor benches, and a gift shop with activities for kids, well priced cafe. Toilet block in the side outbuildings, wheelchair and buggy users might find it hard going as most paths are small stones or ballast not tarmac or concrete, even outside the toilet area is undulating. Council run park, nice grounds with a large lake to walk around, Council were laying a new path when we visited around the lake with small stones, some good paths around the wooded areas for those on two and four legs, cross country rallying if your in a wheelchair, worth a visit if your cycling or...

There's so much to do here that it isn't entirely possible to spend the whole day exploring. On one side you have the paid area where you will find the farm, gardens and cafe. These are all brilliant, especially the gardens, which are stunning and well maintained! The farm is fun, and kids will love feeding the animals. We had a lovely lunch at the cafe which had lots of food options. On the other side you will find a lovely park which has stunning views and some estate walks. The walks are worth doing, but the signposting isn't always great. Parking isn't cheap, but just remember you are paying for the maintenance of the park.

Went in the depths of winter but despite this it was a really cool experience and place to see. The place is well maintained and if you go to the petting zoo/estate, you can claim your parking back. The parkland is large with lots of different trails to walk and being there in winter with the iced over lake is pretty cool too. The petting zoo was a lot of fun as well and the animals look well taken care of. Lots of cool art installations scattered about as well as plaques going over the history of various parts. A great afternoon out. Would recommend πŸ™‚
