Is this like other adventure playgrounds? Sort of, but honestly better than most!
First off, when friends said they wanted somewhere to take their kids, Castle Howard wasn’t first on the list. However, Skelf Island adventure playground is brilliant for littles, as it offers something for most.
Second, there are facilities (toilets and cafe) right next to it, which most places either lack partly or completely. This means no trekking miles just for a little (or big) to relieve themself before returning to play.

Read moreA good day out for all the family, not cheap to get in but worth the trip. Skelf island is great and the kids run around it for hours. Plenty of parking but it's a 10 min walk to Skelf island from the entrance. Acres and acres of land, gardens and good for snacks and refreshments. Views are stunning and Castle Howard House is stunning. House Gardens are lovely, pay extra to go in house when it's open. Lake is big and plenty of wildlife.
All in all a lovely...
