Aboustly terrible experience unfortunately. we visited while we was on holiday and we heard good things so as we was in the area we thought we would visit and enjoy our day as a family. We visited at 10am on a Saturday and the gentleman at reception was explaining to us what to expect in the fair and he told us there be free rides all we need to do is speak to a staff member and they will operate the rides. We walked into the cafe/dance hall and looked around we was not allowed on the dancefloor for some strange reason and also it felt a really strange atmosphere. There are a few fairground organs in the cafe area but BEWARE IF YOU HAVE SEN CHILDREN PUT EAR DEFENDERS ON as they are really loud. We walked into the building with the vintage gallopers are and read it only runs on the hour. So we walked around the vintage motorbikes and looked at the old arcade and see the vintage car's which you are not allowed to touch which is fine. The cars are very clean and polished well we walked around and I have 3 SEN children and they wanted to go on a ride so my wife spoke to a male member of staff who said my children are not allowed as its not safe for 3 kids to go on. So my wife was very confused as we have been to vintage fairgrounds before and never heard this information before. So I had to tell my daughter that she is unable to go on this made her more upset but she could not understand why. So we walked around and they said another ride is opening so we went and there was a sign saying £1.00 a child. So i spoke to a young male staff member and explained that we got told at reception it was free and him and another staff member laughed and was very rude and in a very unprofessional tone towards me. My wife went to complain to manager who was really nice and explained that it's not true that it is safe having 3 kids on a ride so we got some free tokensfrom the manager. The whole visit was a disappointing experience the staff was talking in groups drinking hot drinks there was visitor's asking questions and the staff was walking away from the visitors like they was avoiding the public. I understand they are voluntary workers but they have got a sense of I can't be botherd attitude. We left and will not be visiting back again this place can be great but with better staff and open the rides all the time and not every hour or so as people are going to get bored easy. My advice will be to visit another vintage fair somewhere else and...

Wow. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!! Have wanted to go here for some time and I was mightily impressed with the whole set up. Spent over 3 hours here and had the time of my life. Unadulterated pure joy and 100% nostalgia. Everyone needs to visit here! Loved, loved it! Welcoming, friendly receptionist, all the staff are great. You start off past a short corridor of mirrors which provided the first chuckles. There are collections of radios, memorabilia, engines, working models, dolls and toys, vintage vehicles from cars, bicycles, buses to tractors and fire engines. The large collection of working musical organs were great. They've never really been my thing, but having visited today, I am now a convert. In the hall where the café and loos are, there are Wurlitzer organs which are played at intervals throughout the day, most entertaining while you have a cuppa and bun. Loads of beauteous motorbikie beasties, some really gorgeous vintage models - Bantam, Francis Barnett Falcon, BSA, Enfield Clipper, AJS, Excelsior, Douglas TT Flat tanker, Levis and more. The fairground rides are fabulous. For £1 a go, you can ride the ghost train, the dodgems, the cake walk, the golden gallopers and the caterpillar. Whirling round on the caterpillar was great and the cake walk was amusing, but the supreme ride was the golden gallopers - sheer, utter joy!! I was transported back to me 'yoof' and had a huge grin on my face as the horses rose up and down. No kids in sight, they were back at school, this was full of senior citizens which made it more magical and wondrous. I daresay I wasn't the only one who hadn't ridden a fairground ride since my kid years. There is also a penny arcade with working authentic machines, you just get your old pennies from the reception desk. Café very reasonably priced. I next visited Filey Bird Garden and when I enthused, the lady there said she hadn't heard anyone say a bad word about Scarborough Fair and I endorse that and would unstintingly recommend this place to everyone. Bravo! Gold stars all round and a gong to boot....

The Scarborough Fair Collection is situated on the coast road between Scarborough and Filey, it's a discreet building and whilst its location isn't obvious it is well worth searching out as its display is something to behold.

It hosts, amongst other things, a working collection of Vintage Cars, Steam Engines, Vintage Fairground Rides & Mechanical Organs including a ‘Mighty’ Wurlitzer Organ (which has shared a stage with The Beatles!!) and is on display in their classically styled ballroom.

The vintage fairground rides at Scarborough Fair Collection are the reason we first went and weren't disappointed. From the Golden Galloping Horses which were originally built in 1893, there's also a rare caterpillar ride, a vintage ghost train, the Cake Walk, Dodgems & many more. There's even original classic fairground games on display like the Coconut Shy, a Strength Tester and ring throwing games. Not to mention the Penny Arcade with several vintage arcades in the collection.

Then there's vintage cars, vehicles and motorbikes including the Triumph motorbike, manufactured in 1913, and a variety of Morris Motor Group exhibits. There's the star of the 1962 British comedy film The Iron Maiden as its the home of the actual Showman’s Engine featured in the film. There's a Diamler ‘Landaulette’ from 1927 which was the Royal Family’s vehicle of choice as well as several 'steam' cars and my personal favourite, a classic Buick.

Also on display are several vintage fire engines circa 1930, Austin Tractors, Fordson Tractors & a number of David Brown Tractors all restored to, & maintained in excellent condition.

Free parking, immaculate toilets, nice little cafe, friendly staff and very reasonably priced, cant recommend...

Really enjoyed visiting the Scarborough Fair Collection - prices really reasonable (£9 for adult ticket) & there are some rides in operation throughout the day for an additional fee of £1 - £2 per ride. Really wheelchair friendly - plenty of room for multiple mobility scooters & wheelchairs. There has been so much thought put into the museum, tons of information about each item that's on view. When we arrived it was around 1ish, so the cafe was quite busy & we couldn't find a table available, but wasn't an issue as we just went around the museum first & then went to the cafe afterwards. There's a small gift shop as you enter /exit the building which has some lovely gifts that really reflect the idea behind the museum. The only thing we noticed was that there doesn't seem to be a great deal of advertising in place - the only reason we were aware of the museum is because of the road side advertising, where as we've been staying at a local caravan park & there's no leaflets about the museum. There was no shortage of visitors, which I imagine this is the case in general, as it is clearly a really loved and appreciated attraction, but it would be great to see further advertising as it really is a great place to visit & is an asset to the North Yorkshire coast! We will definitely be back
