Stunning views of Rathlin and Scotland. Great walk across the sand dunes to the beach. Hundreds of Rabbits to watch. The walk to and from the carpark is steep but manageable with steps for the mountain goats and a zigzag path for everyone else. The carpark is very small and free but there are NO facilities and the only bin for litter and dog poo is in the carpark so be prepared to carry your rubbish with you. At certain times of the year cattle graze the dunes to stop encroaching firethorn so be aware that they are roaming free. Great stop for a walk at any time...
Read moreA beautiful long and wide beach that is a SSI. No surfing or bathing means that it is more tranquil than might be expected. At this time of year there is an abundance of wild flowers including primroses, anemones and violets. Wild rabbits graze in the dunes and the beach has much to engage those who love searching for interesting examples of the local geology. Free parking and a decent coffee cabin that serves some gluten free food are a moderate walk...
Read moreThere is a small carpark, probably holds about 30 cars, and food vendor permanently there.
The bay itself has a very long sandy beach with very few people. Signs up indicate that it's not safe for swimming however.
It is supposedly s decent spot for finding ammonite fossils, there are some chalk cliffs at one end if the beach.. maybe that's where they are, but it is mostly sand and sand dunes.
