This is not really a family "bucket-and-spade" beach, but, it is uncommercialised, unspoiled and would hold a fascination to those interested in industrial archaeology. There is limited free parking in Mill Drove (just before the railway level crossing) and one walks past the ruins of the Tidal Mill before reaching the beach, at the back of which, are extensive nature reserves. There is not much of the Seaplane Station remaining except for the concrete footings but the beach is wide and long. This comprises large pebbles at the top and sand lower down at low tide. Read moreLarge open shingle beach with views of the white cliffs of Seaford Head to the east, and Newhaven harbour to the west. A good variety of wild flowers grow amongst the pebbles. When I visited during the week, there was a quiet, uncrowded atmosphere which stood at odds with the area's history of industrial and military activity. Plenty of parking along the whole stretch with some parking areas being a little offset from the road so you get a scenic walk to the beaches. Really good place if you want to go sea fishing with a lot of different species coming out. Managed to get anything from mackerel and whiting to smoothounds and rays here. Going back again in...
