We have visited many farms before this one and for the price and experience I wouldn't visit the Rabbit Farm again anytime soon.
It is a very small farm and I'm not quite sure how the price can be justified or how there are so many positive reviews.
The park was the best part for our young children but £12 for 2 adults and even more for each child just to look at a small amount of animals and to play on a park did seem quite steep considering we could have visited a local park for free.
We also had some concerns about the welfare of some of the animals. They have a cat on the farm that was trying to catch a guinea pig and it wasn't pleasant to watch it trying to escape. That guinea pig will not be there soon, let's just say that. The staff were made aware but are clearly too busy to deal with it properly. The cat shouldn't be there.
Also, some of the cages for the Rabbits do seem quite small for their size but I am no expert on this... other reviewers have pointed this out too so I am not alone.
Gift shops aren't the highlight of most peoples visits but I couldn't help but notice the prices here were unusually high, (when compared to your already-high-priced standard gift shop), and I certainly wouldn't be forking out £4 for a toy not worth 50 pence even in Home Bargain. I do understand Gift shops often have high markups but I do feel as though the prices were ridiculously high here and given the high prices of entry I do not know why they feel the need to try and pocket unreasonable amounts on cheap gifts.
Despite my seemingly gloomy review, it wasn't awful, it was OK! Our kids enjoyed it and that's most important. We often come back to places we visit so perhaps in the future we'll come back and see how things...
Read moreIt was a great fun place, until you look closer. All of the animals were dirty, in small cages some without any lights and covered in flies. The rabbits especially I noticed (as someone with rabbits) weren't being kept very well at all. They were in cages that don't adhere to the 3 hop rule which is a very important rule for rabbits as it can cause many issues including obesity, deformities, mental health problems and issues with feet and nails (which were clearly present on the tangled Lionhead rabbits that were being passed around to hold). Many of the water bottles weren't properly attached, were falling on the floor and being positioned in a way which stops the water flow completely. Using watter bottles like they have also causes long-term dehydration and can damage teeth. The people who worked there were actual children who were mishandling the rabbits picking them up just from the middle without supporting their legs as they should.
There were so many issues here which I could list forever which affected my enjoyment knowing that these animals were probably in pain and thirsty. It's a good day out for people who are less educated on the specific needs of rabbits but I personally wouldn't like to support this farm until they provide...
Read moreWe went to the Rabbit Farm Easter week and I would strongly recommend you seriously consider before paying for a pony ride. Whilst my 4 year old granddaughter was being led around the paddock the horse was spooked, bolted and threw her. She is now traumatised and terrified of horses and it will take a long time for her confidence in horses to be regained, if ever. The sign at the entrance to the paddock stated: Ages between 2-16 and Rider only to enter with staff member. Unfortunately, the staff member leading her appeared to be unable to handle the situation, including knowing what procedure to follow post accident. I would also add that being her nanny and seeing her thrown into the air, she is not the only one...
