We had my son's birthday at Airhop, and unfortunately, it didn’t go as well as we had hoped. There were quite a few issues with how things were organised, and it really affected how much everyone enjoyed the day.
Right from the start, things didn’t seem very well planned. Activities were running late, the staff didn’t seem sure of the schedule, and we weren’t really kept in the loop about what was happening next. This left both the kids and parents a bit confused and made it hard to keep the party on track.
We were promised a reserved table downstairs for our guests, but it wasn’t available, which left us scrambling to find space. On top of that, we had to ask 7-8 times for the unlimited squash to be brought to the table, leaving the kids thirsty for far too long. It was the same for everything else too, asking repeatedly with much delay in everything we asked for. It was myself that was time conscious and had to run around asking if they could get on the air glider (where there is a LONG queue for) and if our table upstairs was ready as no one let us know it was.
The staff was friendly and tried their best, but there just wasn’t enough coordination, so the party didn’t turn out as great as we were expecting. The party host, while friendly, was clearly too busy dealing with other parties at the same time and couldn’t give our event the attention it needed. This left us handling most of the party, which was not what we signed up for. For a kid’s birthday, where timing and structure are key to keeping the kids entertained, it was disappointing to see how unorganised things were.
To make things worse, by the end of the party, our table upstairs didn’t have the extra gifts included in the party bags. The extra items only showed up after half the party group had already left, so many kids missed out. Once again, I blame the organisation for allowing too many bookings at the same time and leaving the staff overworked and overwhelmed that they become forgetful.
Overall, we didn’t get what we were promised or paid for, and it really put a damper on what should’ve been a special day. I think Airhop really needs to improve how they handle events and not just think about how much money they could make from booking too many birthday parties at the same and instead limit the amount. That way it would be better for the staff as they aren’t overworked and parents and kids would have a much better experience. Clearer communication, better scheduling, and more attention to detail would have made the whole experience so much better.
Overall, we didn’t get what we were promised or paid for, and it really put a damper on what should’ve been a special day. With all the disorganisation, chaos, and the high price, I wouldn’t recommend hosting any birthday parties here.
To add to the owners response that “someone has reached out to me” this is not true. No one has...
Read moreIt is a good place to take the kids, I had a birthday party booked here but the only thing is the organisation and the information provided. I arrived with my party of children and it was unclear what to do, we went to reception and was advised we had to go to another desk to get checked in. The second desk had a constant safety video playing on the TV and speaker which was quite annoying to sit next to the whole time. The staff seemed rushed off their feet. I definitely recommend some brochures at reception signposting what happens at each stage perhaps and some arrows on the floor to direct people. There is also an issue with the toilet we kept having to ask for the key for the toilet each time we wanted to use it which wasn’t ideal for a group of children. I was concerned when we went upstairs to the party room and there were bland table and chairs set up in a room with 2 other table and chair sections laid out (for other parties). We received plain plastic plates and wooden spoons which were not ideal. It was bland and very overpriced for what we payed for the party. We spent time trying to decorate and put up our balloons and table cloths. We ate our pizzas which were tiny and then had our cake and was told we had 5 minutes left of our party. We didn’t receive a knife to cut the cake with just wooden spoons so it was tricky. As for the parking there isn’t any unless you get there first I was driving around for ages looking for someone who is leaving. I read in a previous comment that someone said you could get parking from front desk for Travelodge, this wasn’t told to any of us. However, despite this review for possible improvements the 2 staff members Harry who was so polite and validating to our concerns and complaints and made our day turn around as well as he could have with complimentary slush for the children and he kept coming over and asking if we were ok. He helped us upstairs with our belongings and was so attentive. Another staff meme her who really went above and beyond was George a young man who made sure even when he was rushed off our feet and realised he forgot our requests for extra cups. Came straight back as he apologised for forgetting, I kindly accepted as his colleague had attended to our needs instead. These 2 individuals are an asset to the team and I hope that some of this feedback is taken on for future...
Read moreBooked a birthday party here as we visited the venue beforehand and the birthday child had a good time. Booking experience was great and straight forward, even when I had to call up to add numbers for the party. The whole party really liked the venue and everything it offered from the trampoline arena, to the dodgeball area and the softplay which was a good size i.e. not too small. The party food was ok. The fruit platter was a bit miserable, pizza was standard but the chicken bites were brilliant. Loved by the children and adults. I have knocked off stars because unfortunately, the staff lacked any bit of enthusiasm. Parties were to have a dedicated party host as stated on their website but not sure our host did much. The party desk had to be better managed as three parties were looking to be checked in at the same time, with our party having 20 children. Our party host didn't seem to really care, seemed to reluctantly put on wristbands; a parent had to let me know about the party shoe bin as they didn't say anything to me, didn't even inform me how refreshments work for the kids whilst they jump, etc. The host didn't take the kids in and the worst part was actually the fact that you have to round up your own party and make your way to your party table on time. Rather than helping, I felt badgered to just get a move on and make sure I vacated in 30 minutes. I asked for the cake to be ready to go once the kids were up and seated and this wasn't done. I then got an odd look when I asked for assistance to get the cake cut up as I had to jump into getting the food out to the kids myself! I don't really get what the point of a non-hosting party host is. Luckily I did have other parents on hand to help so everyone got fed and we had a good time overall. Just to note, one child couldn't be part of the party numbers as it was late notice, so I booked an open jump session for them. The woman on the till couldn't, for whatever reason, sort out the signing in process and just seemed to walk off to leave it to someone else which was just odd, not to mention it took time out of the jump session for the child! Small positive shout out to the manager who walked around in an inflatable flamingo costume which the children loved. Only bit of personality from staff in the...
