You aren't exactly spoiled for choice with outdoor climbing if you live in London, but Fairlop Waters Boulder Park is surprisingly good.

The boulders are very well made: if you didn't know that they were man-made, you'd be hard pressed to tell as the texture of the concrete and the size and shape of the holds and features is very similar to real rock.

There's a good variety of features too, from small crimps to grit-like slopers and big, friendly jugs. Also, there's a good spread of grades, so the boulders are suitable for everyone, from beginner climbers to seasoned boulderers.

The gravel ground is fairly soft, but I would still bring a bouldering pad if you have one. Also, watch out for the bird poop on the top of some of...

Went here yesterday for the first time and has been my first climb in a few years,I must say I am incredibly impressed by this place, the boulders are a fair recreation of actual boulders.

Each boulder seems to simulate a different type of rock face as well as different difficulty levels. So it's good for both adults and children.

Areas are very clean and there's low danger risk because surrounding the boulders are small pebbles which are also deep. I feel a solid 10 feet and wasn't injured so in my opinion it's good. AWESOME AREA...

Fantastic location, really improved from when I was a kid. Loads to do. Clean and well maintained.

Parking loses you all stars. App is useless, I'm technical and was unable to use it. There is no other options, steady flow of patrons turning up and leaving 15 minutes later frustrated. 6 vehicles parked in a car park for 100s of cars in the middle of school holidays, the businesses will likely be bust by next year, what a shame.

Please improve your ridiculous parking set up so I can rate you the 5...

Outdoor customised “carved” concrete “boulders” scattered aside the large lake in a landscaped woodland setting. Apparently levels of difficulty here offering a challenge range of climbing features across the ability spectrum from novice, unskilled grappler to the vertiginous specialist. If your reach is beyond a social climb this might be just be your dangle.

My absolute favourite park in the whole area. It has so many different things to do, and is beautiful. Plus I've never seen so many things to climb in one park. Great for kids, dogs, and adults. It's also very flat and has paths that go past everything so it's good for buggies and wheelchair users. Also has a car park.
