According to the Met Office, the glowing cloud phenomenon I captured is extremely rare. They are called noctilucent clouds. It is caused by ice crystals around 200,000 feet. This is not visible during the day and only happens when there are clear skies at night when both the observer and the cloud is in darkness and the clouds are high enough to still be able to pick up the suns rays.
