The potential for this place is seriously unlimited . On the day I visited I saw joggers , dog walkers and a man on a mini motorbike with a kid on the cross bar speeding and dodging people down the footpaths and back again . a reminder that I was still in South London . Its still a work in progress and time will tell whether or not the place will be used or misused . It was surprisingly a sunny day on my visit and I can imagine how lovely it will look during the summer months , picnics , water sports activities ect . It was great to see parents out with their children and people just sitting around enjoying the views and weather . A better nature trail for local children and schools maybe ? . More information boards here and there ? This is an historical place so let's see something more done about this please .
Sadly I saw a lot of dog waste around most of the area , and dog owners not picking up the little unpleasant doggy gifts despite the many bins and signs .
Time will see how Southmere will grow and be cared for and valued especially by those who live there . A great amount of money and effort has been put into its planning and construction , credit must go to all the workers involved . Many thanks sincerely .
People please use this space , care for it and protect it . Take some pride in this really amazing place . We need more like it truly . Having this on your doorstep will enhance your life a great deal , a small part of the countryside in a little urban setting . A...

Read moreSouthmere Lake is a beautiful place. It has the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets, accompanied by a brutalist iconic background. Unfortunately a lot less wildlife here now than in previous years due to redevelopment and cretin people taking/hurting them for their own pleasure, but otherwise still a nice place to stop off if you're wandering through on the Green Chain Walk or just for a...
