A Delightful Day at Maldon Promenade Zoo

I recently spent a wonderful day at the Maldon Promenade Zoo with my great niece, who is two years old, and it was an experience to remember. Nestled within the scenic Promenade Park, this zoo offers a perfect blend of fun and education for visitors of all ages.

Animal Encounters

The zoo is home to over 70 species of animals, ranging from farm favorites like goats, donkeys, and alpacas to exotic creatures such as meerkats, armadillos, and marmoset monkeys. The aviary is a vibrant space filled with parakeets and finches, while the reptile house offers a thrilling encounter with a 14-foot Burmese python and other fascinating reptiles.

Interactive Experiences

One of the highlights of our visit was the hands-on experiences. The zoo offers various talks and demonstrations, including a meerkat feeding demo and a “Meet the Reptiles” session. These interactive sessions are not only informative but also allow you to get up close and personal with the animals.

Family-Friendly Activities

The zoo is incredibly family-friendly, with activities designed to engage children and adults alike. My great niece especially loved petting the fluffy farm animals and exploring the creepy crawlies in the reptile house. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Visitor Amenities

The zoo is well-maintained and accessible, with facilities that cater to all visitors. The admission prices are reasonable, and the zoo is open almost every day of the year, making it easy to plan a visit. The surrounding Promenade Park adds to the charm, offering beautiful picnic spots and play areas for children.

Overall Experience

Overall, my day at Maldon Promenade Zoo was delightful and well worth it, especially for my great niece. The variety of animals, interactive experiences, and friendly staff make it a must-visit destination. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this zoo provides a fantastic day out for the...

I met family here on a chilly day. There's lots of parking (we paid £7 for 5 hours). We stopped off for a breakfast roll and coffee first. Everything was freshly cooked, and the coffee was nice, too. The grandchildren had hot dogs and most of the chips (£30).We walked past the splash pool, the Mossaic, and the sand pit and back along the waterfront. The ship play area was a hit with the boys, and then it was off to the zoo. They'll get you in the cheapest way. ( 3 adults, 2 little ones £43. There are gift bags too for £8.95. A bit of feed, sweets a toy), sounds pricey, but the kids got so much out of it. They loved the meet and greet. Took ages to get them out of the reptile house, and we must have walked around for a couple of hours. I have to admit my first impression of the zoo wasn't much, but the animals are well looked after, and the kids volunteer helping to clean and feed them. It's a family run concern, and donations are very welcome. On your way out, there's a gift shop. Look right, and you'll see the biggest ever Python. A slow walk back to the car, through the skate park. We were amazed at some of the kids' talent. Lots of banter between them, but there seems to be some kind of etiquette on the ramps. The 5 hours went so quickly. It was busy when we went. There were plenty of dog walkers, too. I didn't see too many picnic tables, but there's plenty of grass to sit on. The cost mounts up for a family day out like anywhere. But...

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting Maldon Promenade Zoo, and it was an incredible experience for both adults and children alike. The zoo offers an outstanding hands-on "VIP package" that allows visitors to interact with a diverse range of animals including monkeys, meerkats, lizards, snakes, tarantulas, goats, lambs, hamsters, tortoises, skunks, ferrets, and guinea pigs.

The staff at Maldon Promenade Zoo were exceptional, with their friendly demeanour and extensive knowledge about the animals. They contributed significantly to our enjoyable experience, ensuring that all our questions were answered and providing insightful information about the animals we encountered.

Samantha, one of the staff members, played a crucial role in helping our nieces overcome their fears of spiders and snakes. Her patience and expertise allowed them to understand why these creatures were safe to hold, and they left the zoo with newfound appreciation and confidence.

To top off the day, we enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate from their on-site café, providing the perfect end to a fantastic day out. Overall, Maldon Promenade Zoo is a must-visit destination for an unforgettable, hands-on experience with a variety of charming animals. The exceptional staff and cosy ambience make it an ideal spot for a delightful experience.
