We booked for a family 'Fake Christmas' in January so that we could all get together. The place was beautiful. Right on the edge of the water, ducks etc galore. We had a hot tub, which was a huge hit with the kids. However, my reason for 3 stars: the log burner was not fitted correctly as it was not sealed where it joins the chimney, huge hole which howled with the wind. So we decided to make it cosy(Christmas feel, with the stocking for the kids) the smoke bellowed out! We had to open the doors and windows to get rid of the smoke. The carbon monoxide alarm batteries were in the wrong way round. The radiator in the bedroom was on full heat constantly despite the thermostat (which had a life of its own) saying 17 degrees. The beds were like sleeping on wood! And we had 5 bedrooms to choose from. They were all rock hard(enough to make my leg go dead when I slept in my side) The door to the hot tub area(from the bedroom to outside) didn't close properly, and there was no gate to stop any little ones or our dog escaping directly to the water. VERY dangerous. There should have been a gate installed. Bulbs out, toaster broken, items missing from the list left for us to check. Granted, after I left a message at the office, the maintenance team came down. Bulbs fitted, toaster changed, radiator stopped at source(in the loft) Unfortunately the rest were big jobs that couldn't be sorted until we left. I was disappointed that this wasn't all checked before booking us in. Common safety features, especially since we had paid a lot of money for the week.

We came here Mon-Friday. Very pleasant surroundings. Fire was so good, the hot tub was very clean, however the inside of the lodge was not. It was in need of a good deep clean with flies in the lampshades on ceiling and cobwebs around top of bath. Didn't take any pictures of the bathroom downstairs but the bath panel was coming off. It was quite dated. There were only blinds on some of the windows. It had bath towels and sheets, but was missing a simple tea towel and oven gloves. There was no washing up liquid/sponges, the mattresses were very thin. There was no little welcome basket which we have had from other lodges we have stayed at that are self catering. They were making their way around some of the lodges updating them so maybe this one was going to be updated soon. Very friendly ducks and geese wandering around the grounds, including baby goslings. We would probably come back to stay at Hornsea lakeside lodges, and now we know what to expect, we would be more prepared.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights and it was lovely! Great location, Hornsea seafront is only 5 mins away by car and there's a Tesco about 3 mins away so handy for supplies. The Lodge itself (Dovetail No.5) was very spacious, well equipped and had nice relaxing views of the lake. The Hot Tub was fantastic and my little one especially enjoyed the colour changing lights. I had read some reviews that the Hot Tubs aren't that warm but we found ours to be just right. It clearly states when you book (and it's in the welcome booklet too) that the Hot Tub won't be upto temperature the first night due to them changing the water from previous guests so we left it the first night. Perhaps that's why it wasn't a problem for us? The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely book to stay here again. Also, the ducks are very friendly and will be your best mate if you feed them some porridge oats! :)

Firstly I'll start with saying that some of the comments in my review did not bother me at all, but I'm putting everything in the review in case that it will effect your own experience when staying at Hornsea Lakeside Lodges.

We stayed in Lodge 23 - Dovetail Lodge: Positives: Very spacious accommodation Great layout of the Lodge with great views of the area Very Private: lots of space between lodges Quiet / Peaceful (based on the dates we stayed in early November) Close to Hornsea Beach (although difficult to find a pathway) Friendly and helpful Staff

Negatives/Feedback: Water didn't taste right, would recommend bottled water during stay (personal preference) No enclosure for pet friendly lodges, this did bother us as we had two dogs with us and if we wanted to go into the hot tub there isn't a gate to shut so they would either have to be tied up outside or left in the house alone. Would be great to have at least a gate to shut the area off even if only for pet friendly lodges. Lights around the site were not working at night. Atleast half a dozen if not more lights were not working when we were walking around at night Sofa was broken (reported to reception on Exit) There is a £100 deposit on arrival which isn't returned for 5 days (as said by reception staff). This needs to be more clear in correspondence in the run up to the holiday. TV: close to breaking point, the back lights were shining through the screen and causing white spots on the screen. (forgot to report) The Gate where you drive through was never closed even though they made a point of having all the number plates before 5pm on check in day. If it's not going to be closed they need to not make a deal out of this for parking. OR use the gate after hours...

Other than a few minor points above we had a fantastic short stay. Not much to do in Hornsea, but that didn't both us as we had come to escape and do...

Fabulous lodge stayed in teal Lodge. Really spacious and comfortable with good size bedrooms all with tvs, well equipped kitchen, great bathrooms and large hot tub. WiFi not too good given the area, but could cast from phone to watch iplayer/log into prime/ Netflix with no issues. we did find the bed a little lumpy in the upstairs bedroom and a few of the furnishings a little tired. That said it did not impact the overall quality of the lodge or our enjoyment. The little log burner was very cozy, well worth the £8 for logs and fire lighters which lasted us the 4 nights easily. The lodge was warm and cozy, modern with a lovely high volted ceiling in the main living area. The kitchen had what you needed equipment wise, huge fridge freezer, would have been handy to have a washing machine. The hot tub was a good size and clean and private with a 3 sided fence round it. Nice area outside with a picnic bench over looking the lake with regular ducks and geese visiting in a morning, which was entertaining. Gated site and good Parking right outside the lodge. Staff showed care around cleanliness whilst were still in the pandemic, meeting you at your car and letting you know things had been santised. The lodge itself was very clean. The Staff were very friendly when you saw them but they didn't encroach on your stay. Big tesco 2 minutes down the road. A few shops and pub in hornsea. Highly recommended five bites takeaway who deliver to the site. Nice walk via a field at the back of the lodge along the cliff path. A little muddy and bumpy so not ideal if you have mobility issues. Having stayed in many lodges I would definitely recommend it's not the most luxurious we've stayed in, but the price, location, standard and size of the lodge was great and I would...
