Melton Country Park is a popular Park for residents and visitors alone or with families and friends. It is a great place for walking cycling running and exploring as well as for playing football, outdoor games, walking dogs and picnics. There is a fantastic cafe and community centre open for takeaway hot and cold food and drinks every day during this lockdown. Melton Space run events there throughout the year in normal non pandemic times. There are also parkrun events for adults and junior starting again soon for juniors on Sundays and in June for over 11s and adults. There are also free orienteering maps available online to use yourself via Leicester Orienteering Club.. There are playgrounds , two different sets of allotments, lakes and many free car parks and multiple pedestrian access points. There is also a QR code trail and a fitness trail with equipment. There is a mixture of open grassy areas and wooded areas and also a bird hide as there is a variety of ducks and other birds especially around the lakes. There are paths suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and mobility scooters. What more could you want in a local...
Read moreNice Park, enjoyed our visit. Has plenty of places for kids to play and even has places for dogs to play. The toilets are closed due to the current situation, so please bear that in mind before leaving. Parking is free and the park seems to appear out of nowhere (assuming you park near the cofee shop). They offer a limited selection of hot and cold snacks, which for the moment is offered on a takeaway basis. The park itself has many trials either around the park, thought it and also as a throughroute generally. It's abiut two mlies to walk all th way round and can get guite muddy, if you go onto the cycle tracks. All in all a nice park which is good for a nice walk, run or cycle.. I don't think you can spend the whole day there but you can certainly get lost for...
Read moreMelton Country Park is a lovely park, filled with nature and wildlife. There is a nice pond area with ducks, geese and swans, and a bird hide. As well as a short 5 minute footpath-guided forest walk. It's not normally very busy either. There is also a café in the car park, where you can get ice cream, and a kids play area in the forest. I would recommend this park for people who like to have a relaxed walk in the park, and people that like birdwatching. The one let down, is that the bridge that you can cross to get from the pond to the bird hide, is currently closed, and you have to take a long walk around it to get there. Other than that, it is a lovely place for a stroll...
