This is an absolutel treat! A recreation of a 4,000 neolithic henge (similar to Stonehenge but with wood instead of stone), combined with a nature trail and a dark ages hut. Lots of boards around to explain everything in great detail. Parking is plentyful and close by, and you can choose between several routes. All in the heart of the magnificent Cheviot hills. Highly recommended.

An interesting stop off just by the road - lots of interesting history, both ancient as well as the nearby RAF base that was important in WW2. The trail is good for families, the Henge is a clever reconstruction that means you can climb over and walk around. Plenty of parking, a good place to stop and picnic.

Brilliant place for families to explore and maybe picnic. There is a trail cut through the longer grass and trees.with information on the history. Very interesting great for kids to find the next part of the trail. The wooden henge would be great for them to run around in. Not to long a walk and free.

Giving this lovely place 3 stars cannot really describe what is there, but in some ways the fact that there is not very much there is its attraction! The small site is set aside to describe the stages of settlement in this extraordinary area that has been the seat of Kings, the nursery of Christianity in Britain and a very good place to live in that odd time where Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman come and go and ordinary people just take care of their own hearth and home, their neighbours and extended family...

It was near by to our caravan site so we took a drive to walk around. It was so nice and informative, the sign posts were amazing and telling of the archaeology the site has seen. The site has inspired me to look at more of the history. Me and my brother especially loved the wood henge after discovering it was a...
