Ashtead Park is a charming and rustic gem located with a convenient small car park at the entrance on Epsom Road. It features several small lakes, which add to its serene ambiance. Fishing is permitted with a proper license, making it a pleasant spot for angling enthusiasts. It is also a lovely place for bird watching. Not that I am expert but aside from ducks I have seen at least 8 species of birds. Don't ask me to name them. 🤫

The park offers walking paths that wind around the lakes, perfect for a leisurely stroll or taking the dog out for a refreshing walk. However, visitors should be mindful that the paths can become muddy and slippery, especially after rain, so appropriate footwear is recommended.

While Ashtead Park boasts a few benches scattered around for rest stops and contemplation, it does lack a playground, which might disappoint families with young children. Additionally, due to the uneven and often muddy terrain, it is unfortunately not well-suited for wheelchair users. This is a notable drawback that could be addressed by Epsom and Ewell Council to improve accessibility for all visitors.

Overall, Ashtead Park is a delightful spot for nature lovers seeking a peaceful retreat. With some accessibility enhancements, it has the potential to become an even more inclusive...

Mixed woodland and grass with 4 ponds (that I know of). Originally grounds of the building that is now City of London Freeman's school. Now managed and much less wild than 30yrs ago (really!). I was disappointed by the increase of brambles but some of the paths around the ponds are much improved for casual walkers. There are more benches and signs and dog mess bins and a small car park 250yds in from the northern gate. (You can't drive through any more.) Many of the really large trees have gone (no more insane rope swings) and the management has altered the habitat somewhat. This isn't wheelchair friendly and there are no toilet facilities. It is still a great wood to walk around and play in. Naturalists will find plenty to look at. I don't know if fishing is still available in the main pond. I didn't see any...

A very nice place to walk, with woodland and grassland. It can get muddy around the larger pond. This is not a place for a wheelchair user I'm sorry to say. You do get the occasional antisocial behaviour. Again the park is spoiled by a few inconsiderate dog owners not clearing up after there dog and/or allowing there dog to chase the wildfowl and deer. Fishing is club only. Beware the road leading to the carpark as there are some deep potholes. Worth a visit. Surry Wildlife Trust are no longer involved in...

Fantastic school and grounds, love the historic links, cross cultural environment, city links, and excellent academic prowess.. go City of London Freemen’s! great music facilities (Mrs Berg and singing!)… but must learn from the Howard of Effingham to provide more opportunities and effort for Kids to perform in actual whole musicals. Otherwise stunning - the Best Sixth Form Ever … The students have no idea how lucky they are. Dedicated high quality motivating teachers.

Ashstead is beautiful. This lovely secluded wooded park has interesting trees and ponds. Don’t forget get some duck food as they will follow you around the ponds. Plan where you are going to park before making your journey. Once you have completed your walk you can pop over to Ashstead garden centre for some refreshments!
