You’d think the strong ties with Vaughn Williams would be the most interesting thing about this church, but in the 1950’s under the looming threat of nuclear extermination that came living in the shadow of the Cold War the people of Dorking converted the crypts under this church into a fallout shelter capable of protecting about 30 people from the initial radio active fallout that would sweep down from London, this of course required a door into the crypts/shelter should the church be locked and they built the rather pedestrian looking entrance as can be seen in the photo at the front of the church for quick access! Interesting Yes!

This Church delivers the Wow factor its just wonderful steeped in History and you can spend hours just looking at the stained glass windows never mind viewing the opus septile (work made in pieces) which combines the techniques of mosaic work with the design features of stained glass Well worth a visit if you're in Dorking and you definitely will not forget it There's a Christain Centre opposite where you can get a coffee and they also do lunches.

This gothic style church is listed only Grade II* but it does look like a Grade I* cathedral material. It's current structure is from 19th century renovations but originally it goes way back in time beyond middle ages. The spire is one of the tallest in the country and acts as a proper landmark when viewed from Surrey Hills.

I moved to Dorking just over 4 years ago and was immediately made to feel very welcome in the warm and caring church community.

I love the feel of our church with “relevant to all ages”sermons and great music provided by our excellent choir and the other activities on offer.

I had the opportunity to move away from Dorking a little while ago but decided to stay and the church community was one of the many reasons...
