Wonderful small National Trust property celebrating the English Poet Coleridge. The property is situated roadside in a small village with narrow streets. Parking is opposite in the public house “The ancient mariner”. I was not well informed about this poet before visiting however my lacking education has been filled! Staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who had detailed information about their subject. The property is full of interesting excerpts of poetry his life story and the inspiration he found from the local area. The garden is worth visiting especially as it inspired one of his works. Small efficient tea room and unisex toilet available. No shop currently (awaiting to reopen but no date as to when). Well worth a visit. Limited disability access and no disabled toilet due to age / layout of the cottage. I would recommend booking a ticket in advance as due to size of property numbers can be limited. Booking on National Trust website in advance - free if you are a member however I’m not sure of non...

Three short years but the best had come out of the one of the greatest romantic poets when he was here. Absolutely loved the place. When you're here you become a part of history and that really tells the tale! Lovely staff and knowledgeable one too! Beautiful little cafe. Have a walk in the back garden to know a little more history and don't bother the goose ☺! Wonder how he got the best out when he was staying here with the family- just look at the condition they used to live in!! And what poetry- amazing!! When we were there, an exhibition was on. Kids loved the games in the garden! And the ink bottle with quills- had a great time with them trying to be Coleridge! Never knew it was there- lovely...

Frequently passed this place by on way to other destinations. Had the time to call in this week, and what a little treasure it is. The visit was enhanced by the presence of a very knowledgeable guide who (appropriately) waxed lyrical on Coleridge. Very bijou cottage but do not miss the garden! Surprisingly, there is also a tearoom. Regrettably, we had already eaten at the nearby Chantry Tearoom so did not partake here. Oh yes, and you can park in the 'Ancient Mariner' directly...

The cottage where Coleridge wrote his famous poems, including The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. There's a car park behind the pub opposite the cottage. The cottage itself is small but the guides were excellent, retelling the period when Coleridge lived there and how the area inspired his poetry. Amazingly there is a small café, and there's a back garden to explore and enjoy. It was so much better than we had expected. Thankyou for making our visit special.

Little gem of a NT property hidden away in Nether Stowey near Bridgwater. Basically the poet's home for a number of years where he wrote some of his most famous work. Exhibits very interesting. Staff very informative and happy to impart detailed information if asked. Cafe has a slightly odd selection (no sandwiches/hot food) but the property is very small so I guess space is limited.
