Excellent place to stay, would highly recommend. Staff are so lovely and friendly who go above and beyond to make your stay a comfortable one. Rooms nice and spacious plenty of room for two adults, a baby in a travel cot and a dog. Bathroom (wet room) huge with a powerful shower. Rooms are sound proof aswell so couldn't hear neighbors. Breakfast was delicious cooked, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, juices, tea, coffee, service with a smile and a chat every morning. Everything outstanding, would definitely visit again. We had every evening meal at the pub and again couldn't fault one bit, excellent service, good was so so delicious and excellent value, especially the weekly deals, amazing. Also the open fire was so welcoming our daughter was memorised. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights there.

Claire & I stayed an extra night at the Ancient Mariner because it was so comfortable. The rooms are large with very nice beds and clean sheets. The TV worked wonderfully. Its really quiet and you are guaranteed a restful sleep. Bathrooms are spacious and the shower was large enough for both of us to save water:) Lots of hot water. The pub is really nice with friendly professional staff. Open fire made it very cosy. Breakfast was very welcoming before we left, it was tasty, the chef cooked us a vegan full English breakfast, with extra toast. If you want a off the beaten track staycation, The Ancient Mariner in Nether Stowey is the place. Would certainly like to return

The accommodation was so spacious and a bargain. The guy who runs the pub was really friendly and helpful. And has a gsoh. Breakfast included and because I didn't want bacon and sausage he did an extra egg. Food at the moment is in the sister pub we didn't try as we had eaten lunch time.

The managers and bar/ restaurant staff were great and the food available was tasty though being a salmon lover, I was disappointed with the absence of it from the menu. The availability of fruit either fresh or stewed/salad would have been good. The sweet choice was bland and the two decent choices were withdrawn from the menu the evening of our arrival....lemon posset being my favourite. The bedrooms were spacious though the kingsize bed had a double size duvet which left my partner and I fighting for coverage. Cleanliness was not good. The bed bottom sheet was not straightened and duvet just pulled up to create tidiness. The shower room had mould and red soap scum build up on the walls and screen base. Unfortunately I'm not even sure that clean towels were actually clean as an infection was contracted whilst staying, spread by the use of infection present on towels. Graze marks on the wall gave the room a scruffy appearance. We stayed three nights and drinking water and biscuits were not replenished. The village shops and locals were very friendly and the post office/cafe very helpful with walk route information and sandwiches...

I can not speak highly enough of this place , from the minute we went in there we felt right at home. We was greeted with a smile and great customer server , which is so hard to find these days. Nothing was to much trouble. They made conversation but gave us just enough time to look over the menu , before expecting us to know what we wanted within a minute of having the menu handed to us. Once we put our order in, the food came out quite quickly and was so fresh and tasty. Dogs are welcome, but unlike a few places I have been, the rooms didn't smell like wet/dirty or have hairs over the seats. The rooms they rent out are amazing, lovely big beds, nice big tv's, a wet room , plenty of teas, coffees, milks etc . Really quiet . The breakfast is great and plenty of it. Richard the chef came out to check everything was ok which was a nice touch. The managers to every member of staff deserve the highest praise. It's been a long time since we have had that kind of...

In entering this lovely pub we collected our key on 1st impressions the room was big and had everything we needed. We had an evening meal that was lovely and enjoyed by us all. Back to the room for some well deserved sleep. The beds were uncomfortable like lying on a paving slabs and the pillows need to be better quality. Up after a walk ready for breakfast at 8.30 here's where things went badly. Doors weren't opened until 8.40 shown to table and left could see cereals but no milk or juice on table near it no tea or coffee milk and juice out on top table at 8.50 then coffee not water was in a coffee hug and not one person used this as it looked disgusting. The last came and took our order for breakfast which we were then waiting a considerable time for. The breakfast was nice but the mushrooms were horrible. No toast offered or put out but there were marmite excetra on the top table. All in all breakfast was disappointing. Not the nice stay we...
