It would be easy to say that Ardglass Golf Club is a real gem and leave it at that - those who have been there will have their own wonderful memories and understand exactly that - Ardglass Golf Club is a real gem!
However, for those who haven't yet had the pleasure, your smile broadens as you step foot onto the grounds. The clubhouse is hauntingly strong and beautiful, dating back to 1405AD and recognized as the Oldest Club House in the World!!
The white tee block on the 1st hole is nestled into the rugged shoreline of the Irish Sea - the starter proclaims that "The Irish Sea is to your left, the rest of Ireland is to your right!" Sounds easy doesn't it!?!?
Having played the course over the past dozen or so years, it's not always easy to pick out the many improvements that have been made to several of the holes - the renovations are not glaring, they fit nicely into the overall design and environment. Everything is authentic!
If you're lucky, as we were, you'll feel the winds blow, you'll taste the Irish mist and you'll be treated with a perfect rainbow by day's end. Beyond that, you'll be treated with the warmest hospitality, food and friendliness from the Golf Shop to the bar/restaurant.
Do yourself a favour, put Ardglass Golf Club on your...
Read moreI visited Ardglass Golf Club as a wedding decor supplier for a relation of mine and there is great access to their function room and helpful and accommodating staff.
Ardglass Golf Club has a function room on the ground floor with it's own bar and with access from the kitchen. This is called the "MacAfee Suite" which can hold up to 100 people, and is perfect for Birthday Parties, Christenings and Weddings.
Ardglass Golf Club also has a restaurant which we visited after set up and which I can recommend. It overlooks the first and eighteenth holes. I had the chinese chicken curry with chips, salad and coleslaw and it was delicious. The service was fast and friendly.
Ardglass Golf Club is off the beaten track and without supplying to this wedding, I would have been completely unaware of it. The views in and around this location are beautiful and I am glad to have had the opportunity to see it and think I would return for a day out and sightseeing. I am originally from the North Coast and the beautiful scenery it has to offer but was impressed by the sea views. If you are thinking of visiting Northern Ireland, I would take the time to visit this venue and sample the local food and...

Ardglass was one of the highlights of our Northern Ireland trip. The course is carved right into the coastline – dramatic views, wild elevation changes, blind shots, and a few holes you’ll be thinking about long after you’ve flown home.
It looks wide, but don’t be fooled: if you miss in the wrong spot, your ball is gone. Not rough – gone. Still, it’s fair. And the layout? Absolutely memorable.
Add to that: a tiny pro shop with surprisingly great merch, a starter who feels like an old sea captain (in the best way), and a clubhouse that’s half coastguard station, half local pub.
Bonus points for Guinness 0.0 at halfway. And yes – the five-hour round was worth every minute.
Would come back in...
