What a fantastic place, all of the paths are either well maintained gravel or wooden boardwalks, with signposts at all junctions giving the distance to the next hide or viewing area and time to walk to them. The hides are superb, very well done out inside and most have pull up - pull down windows, good seating is provided. When I went on the Friday before the August bank holiday it was quite overcast but I needed to stop on my way home from a week away, this place provided the perfect place to unwind and take a relaxing stroll, popping into the various hides with the binoculars and camera in case anything came in view. I saw a few muntjac deer, a red kite, a few buzzard, robins, black caps, lizard's, dragon flies and so much more, unfortunately no kingfisher, but a young lady had seen it prior to chatting. The suggested donation was £10 and personally I would have paid double. Well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area. The nice lady in the shop was very informative and passed on where certain birds had been sighted and she gave me a copy of the map to take with me.

Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve is a delight. It was four years ago, during the morning, that we first visited the reserve. We anticipated staying for around ninety minutes, but stayed until early afternoon. During the morning, when the reserve opens, is the best time to see birds feeding. On this occasion we visited at 1 pm, and we still saw a variety of birds, but not much on the water. There are about six hides taking in different views of woodland, ponds, scrapes and lakes. Our favourite hide is the Tower Visitor hide, the ramp of which takes you up into the trees. The photo's I have shown, apart from the pheasant, were taken from that hide using a travel camera set at intelligent auto. The wooden walkways, hides and paths can easily be negotiated on foot and by mobility chairs and scooters. There are numerous seating areas along the route. A toilet for everyone is available.

Amazing summer's day visit in July 2025. Staff so welcoming. We enjoyed a 7 hour wander around the extensive site, experiencing a variety of habitats. Very fortunate to see kingfishers multiple times and for prolonged periods. Also saw marsh harriers, egrets, plenty of waterbirds. We took a picnic and ate it on a bench in the flower meadow. Visitor Centre had some lovely items to purchase but we didn't get back there before closing, sadly. We will try to return to shop and support them. Very good accessibility at this site, all paths were either boardwalks or gravel. All hides accessible by ramps, no stairs. Some hides had a wheelchair ramp at the viewing windows to aid visibility. A well planned and supported site that provides a great day out. Clean, smart, well equipped - deserves our / your support

Mmmmm???

We went to Sculthorpe Moor and nature reserve, and we noticed that it was donation based, no issue.

Well, we went to enter, and I got told by the customer service advisor that I had to donate, I replied that I would give my donation on the way out as then I could give either more or less than the suggested amount dependent on experience etc

No I wasn't allowed to do that, I had to donate before entry.

I asked were the donations compulsory? I then got told that they needed to register the donations/numbers for fire reasons? (Explain that)

So I asked again if entry was dependent on a compulsory donation, she said yes!

Well I said if it's a compulsory donation then it's an entrance fee and should state so! We left.

The English language states that a donation is voluntary, not compulsory,

I am sure Sculthorpe Moor is a lovely place and well worth a visit BUT be prepared to pay the compulsory dontion/...

Wow, this morning was questioned are we disabled and that the disabled parking is for people in wheelchairs. I actually have a blue badge and so does my daughter but I’m used my daughters this morning. The woman on the desk was extremely rude, made no apology for speaking to me like a piece of rubbish while questioning disabilities in front of my registered disabled daughter!. Absolutely apppaled. Further to my disabled daughter being treated appallingly and being told that disabled parking is for wheel chair users. This in its self is exlusion of the disabled and discrimination. We went into the shop to give the woman a chance to apologise and she ignored us. When we then went to get in our car, my daughter witnessed her stand at the window clapping with a smiling face. Didn’t think she was capable of smiling! This has caused immense anger, stress and upset. I won’t be...
