Northumberland Park is a large park located in North Shields, England. It is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, and offers a variety of activities for people of all ages. The park is home to a number of attractions, including a playground, a BMX track, a bowling green, a lake, a herb garden, a bandstand, and a tea room. There is also a pet cemetery in the park, which is the final resting place for over 1,000 pets. The park is well-maintained and has a lot of green space, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. There are also a number of walking trails in the park, which offer stunning views of the surrounding area. Northumberland Park is a great place to visit for a family day out. There is something for everyone in the park, and it is a great way to spend a few hours exploring the outdoors.

Beautiful little park! Café bright, clean and reasonably priced. Indoor & outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Dog friendly - water bowls outside filled with fresh water. Lots of interesting facts scattered around the place from medieval leper hospital to trees planted from chestnuts brought back from France after WWI. There's an old pet cemetery with headstones to commemorate long gone beloved pets. One brought a tear to my eye especially - in memory of a dog rescued from the beaches in Normandy in 1944 & who lived a long life in North Shields. Wonder if anyone knows the full story? Well worth a visit!

This is a lovely and very well maintained park. It has a bandstand and a cafe as well as an old pet cemetery! Don't stick to the main path. Have a wonder up and down the sides. The bird song is amazing. This is a very quiet park. There is a good playground for the kids and a cycle track. Ignore the opening times on Google Maps. It's open every day til 7pm as far as I know

We love this park. Always really clean and well taken care of. It's clear a lot of love is put into its upkeep and care. Lots of lovely looping trails, but can be very hilly and steep in places. I just wish dogs were made to be kept on leads because as a mom of two toddlers I don't appreciate dogs I don't know running up to my girls and getting in our personal space (licks to the face, muddy dogs brushing up against us, fast large dogs jumping up on us, etc.). We would much rather ask if a dog is friendly and have the owner's permission before encountering the dogs. We took our dad's nervous dog today and had to guide him away from several dogs who were off lead, their owners too far to pop them back on the lead (one owner didn't even appear to have one for his dog). Everyone in the park we've encountered has been really friendly. The cafe has delicious coffee, ice cream and snacks (not the friendliest of staff, but...

Delightful park not far from Tynemouth beach. A lot has changed here in the past decade. It was more of a picnic spot with woodland walks and hidden history, but amazing efforts have brought so much to light - there are now lovely art pieces among the trees, 'fairy doorways' and faces. There are new cultivated plants which I think evokes the original Victorian idea for this place. Historically there was a leper hospital (and there is still the old gaol building near the entrance) with a herb garden that has been carefully reimagined. There is a pet cemetery hidden at the back. We used to picnic on a stretch of grass that now has a cafe/visitor centre and toilets, all parks this size benefit from such facilities- grey squirrels leap from tree to tree and fish have been spotted in the pond. Lovely. Although is pushchair friendly so expect some screaming kids during the day or just...
