I first heard about this landmark through a page on Facebook and it instantly intrigued me. So, two days later I made the 45 minute trip to see it for myself and it didn't disappoint.
My personal advice is to enter via the west side entrance as the east side gets flooded as you will see in the pictures. Once you enter the tunnel, there is a bit of water to navigate through using makeshift stepping stones and there is some water inside the tunnel in parts. Comfortable shoes are advised as its full of stones. As well as a decent flashlight.
The tunnel begins to curve about 10 minutes in so natural light disappears and all of a sudden you come across a Mr Bean style light. (Showing my age) natural light in a beam reaches a spot on the middle from stacks in the ceiling and there are 3 along the way. But as you get closer to one, the other one vanishes from sight. There are a few burnt out cars in there, please don't touch them due to the chemicals after burning a car van be toxic for some time afterwards and you don't want to risk a child cutting their hands on them.
